AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

ampere is gonna be nowhere to be seen on shelves so AMD aint that bothered.

Don't think that's the case, 3080 and 3090 have the same core so 3090 should be available in sufficient quantities.. there should be no problems with 3070 or 3080 as they are too small or aggressively binned.. supply issues happen when the wafer line hasn't stabilised and is returning low yields or when there's not enough line capacity.. capacity can be a issue with AMD but not with nVidia.. they have the ability to splurge and though I am not closely following the semiconductor industry, there doesn't appear to be a huge line for the 8 NM process..unless there are rumors floating on the availability of gddr6.. I don't see how this can be a problem

It's no win for them. Consoles margins are so tight they are making pennies on these things.
AMD have already made their money by selling the APUs. Slim margins on consoles is Microsoft and Sony's problem, not AMD's. Not the mention the money Microsoft and Sony will have paid them to develop the APUs in the first place.
I guess AMD enjoyed having <20% of GPU market share on PC. They must be happy with this, since they are putting no effort in addressing this.
Deluded opinion, why did you even bother posting it?

But there's zero info about RDNA2 cards. How many are being released etc. They may not be releasing a direct competitor for the Nvidia card the person contemplating purchasing so could end up waiting for nothing.

Or they might not.......thats the whole point of the play. Who knows? and will all consumers risk it, if nothing else it applies pressure to the marketing team at NV and slows the hype train just a bit for their rivals

Both the threads on this forum have been going crazy for months with the possibilities and what it's and people were jumping up and down before the anyone knew what the ampere looked like / could do etc. It's no different

We know more about the NV cards....but so do AMD, is that a blessing or a curse?

Everything I say here is just my opinion and is speculation so please dont think I am talking with "insider knowledge" or anything, just want to share what's in my head with you folks. It just makes you think and it's interesting to discuss.

yeha, because allegedly it's a rubbish node with poor yields. So rubbish that in fact it's even rumoured that Nvidia are paying per working die, not per wafer. Nvidia could have the entire 8nm line to themselves, but if that line just doesn't produce very many dies then you'll still have supply issues.

People will buy what they want to buy, but what is the trouble with waiting for ONE MONTH when it has already been 2 years?

People confuse me.

This is it entirely for me, both cards will sell and will arrive on the market soon enough

That's the joy of choice and a competitive marketplace :)

It gives AMD plenty of time to tweak clock speeds and ram amounts to really compete with ampere. A 16gb 3080 competitor at similar or less pricing is worth the wait.

I’m with you here. People actually posting “lol” to 28th October - get a grip on yourselves.

You do realise that AMD profit margin on consoles is low? How do you think Sony & Microsoft keep BOM cost so low?

Deluded opinion? They had 2 years to get their **** together and they still come behind Nvidia? Is it that much to ask for AMD to be the first out of the gate at least once? Where is the effort shown here? Why are they waiting until the end of October?

If you have a competitive product, announce at at the end of this month, why are they waiting another month & half?

Why wait a month and a half? Because Nvidia cards will be benched against the old AMD cards, that’s why.

Their official reddit account seems to imply fastest architecture....though in the past from both camps that usually only applies to vs their own products.

Just seen the announcement on facebook, clue is in the wording for me, "learn more on October 28th"

Looks like a fair bit of waiting to go yet before these are released, hope I'm wrong though
