AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

I wonder if any body bothers to understand the implications of trying to keep a supply chain going, while providing new SOC's for both new major games console launches happening at the same time, and another CPU launch, ever increasing demands from DC/OEM, and a laptop market that is really taking off, and at the same time trying to launch a brand new GPU line-up with current restrictions on 7nm wafer availability.

Ironically AMD being a victim of their own success means they get slammed for not telling people when they are releasing parts soon enough, yet if they did, they'd get slammed for not having any stock, then they'd get slammed for doing it on the wrong day of the week, or too close to a full moon.

If you are complaining about a release date, then 'YOU' are the problem, because you clearly don't understand when you are growing as a compnay you can't be spinning an infinite number of plates without some of them falling off.

In August we are told we will see an announcement from Nvidia in 3 weeks, world + dog goes crazy.

In September we are told we will see an announcement from AMD in 7 weeks, world + dog gets upset at it not being good enough.

Hmm...

The problem is AMD have made a noise without saying anything at all, stop leaving everything to individual interpretation, many people will think this is a launch date, its not, its probably an announcement to a useless slide on Twitter. This is exactly how you induce rage in people, it called trolling.

Let's just see how availability goes. Honestly I don't understand the NOW NOW NOW attitude. If AMD announces their cards and they are competitive then hooray for everyone, if they announce them and are not competitive then you get Ampere a month later than you would have.

What is the major problem?

I was merely pointing out that that there's distinct differences between AMD being 7 weeks and Nvidia being 3 weeks.

AMD could be waiting to get a hold of the 3090/3080/3070 cards so they can bench them against RDNA 2 Navi cards for there presentation.

They could compare them against their own cards like Nvidia has.
If they benched a card that had 2 X performance over the 5700XT the hype would generate.

But we've been here before, time and time again.

That's exactly what Nvidia did with their 21 years, 21 days thing? They made a lot of noise without saying anything at all but no-one pulled them up for it?

Nobody cares if they beat 5700xt by x amount. That won't shift cards but beating out Ampere cards would assuming they can do so. If the cards are close on performance then they can do some cherry picking like Nvidia have v the 2080/2080ti.

To those who haven't currently bought an Ampere perhaps.
Hell, they could beat the 2080 by a higher percentage than the 3080 slides if they wanted to. If we're assuming people are going to use rational purchasing, then beating the 2080 by a higher percentage than the 3080 does will suffice.

Again, we've been here before.
If AMD have a card that's beating a 3080 I'll be very surprised.

Yeah, and that was it, what we got on that date was Jens in his kitchen with a bunch of slides and talking Ampere up, and firm release dates.

Yesterday we got a tweet from AMD "Tomorrow" written 5 times in a longer quote. Tomorrow comes and its a slide with October on it.... if that's what "Tomorrow" was for what is this for? Another date on a slide in 7 weeks time?

Anyone sitting on the fence about buying a 3080, my advice would be just to ahead buy it. It's likely it will be 10 weeks+ before you will able to get your hands on Big Navi and at best it might match or slightly be ahead of 3080 at a similar price. Is that worth the wait when we know it's unlikely AMD will competitive with all the features Nvidia offers?

We got a tweet from someone in AMD with quotes from a musical. It's hardly them confirming anything or announcing anything is it? Today was that announcement.

I'd have to assume the 28th of October is full on launch date, or at the very least paper launch with full proper reviews.

If it's an Nvidia style event it's a fail.

I don't trust vague empty slides like this from AMD to mean anything at all anymore, and with good reason.

Its very pretty.... good graphic design.

They said PC RDNA2 would be available before the consoles, We have confirmation that the Xbox Series X is coming on November 10th. If October 28th isn't the availability date, it'll be close.

Tbh i won't be surprised if they do. the 3080's performance over the 2080ti seems to be going down everyday if certain leaks are true making the goal more ever achievable. I would say if AMD do go for a 500mm2 chip it should be enough to get the job done if everything in RDNA 2 scales well. If they go small they were never aiming at the 3080 in the first place. I hope it's a big die for AMD's sake and also mine :D:D:D:D:D. This is the first time in a while i have been excited about an AMD launch because i do think they have something decent this time round. Last time i thought they had something was fury x so learned my lesson for a while.

For once i agree with you, this says absolutely nothing and it is tiring to be constantly pocked with nothing burgers.

If its released on that date just say that, If Lisa is doing a thing from her kitchen tell us about it, whatever it is say it, ####### 18 month guessing game, enough AMD.

I think TheFuryOn might have a contender for the cooler king role if this continues.. :D
