AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

I'll be honest.. I'm expecting whatever AMD's halo card is to beat the 3080 in rasterisation and possibly even dxr - on the base level.. As you mention, nVidia's trump card is DLSS - which AMD needs an answer to. In titles that support DLSS (and if the rumours regarding DLSS 3.0 are true that's gonna be virtually every game) I expect the 3080 to be notably ahead...

If AMD's top end RDNA2 card can match a 3080 in raster but cost less then that's the card for me, I do not care about RT 1 bit.

I have seen hundreds of acquisition targets, from $1 million to $1 billion in revenues, introduce them as "leaders".. kinda tuned that out of my system.. i can only advise to look at it as not more than a marketing jargon

It's a fairly clear claim, admittedly the 'across' doesn't claim to be all their gfx sku's but it must include at least one that's faster than it's comparable NV product. You could also argue it would be more than 50% of it's gfx sku's for them to claim "leadership performance across computing and 'graphics' " since it's plural, it's making a broader claim across a whole product segment. Therefore >50% of gfx sku's or >50% market share etc.

consoles has amd hardware in it....there you go

heres a fun one, reading that tweet again, "on the horizon" as in you guessed it, not here just yet. i really REALLY hope im wrong on this one that come the 28th of october all we get is a "next year big navi will ship yadda yadda yadda" that would be very bad.

It'd be ok if they provide some performance levels to be expected, so we have time to prepare our wallets :D

Actually it's less vague from AMD if anything. Look at the Nvidia slide which says "something is happening in 21 days" with nothing else to go on. Yes it was likely it was Ampere but until the announcement there was NOTHING confirming that.
It isn't the same. There were various pictures of the FE cards and other leaks about the 3090, 3080 and 3070 cards prior to the "21 days" tweets.

What do we know about the RDNA2 card(s)?

It's always on the horizon with any release including motherboards because firmware / drivers are never ready on day 1.

I think they mean Ray-tracing, hardware-accelerated scheduling, variable rate shading, new Video Core Next,
More cores for the CPUs, better components in the future - DDR5, PCIe 5, faster APUs in gaming, etc.... all that stuff rather than drivers lol

I was thinking that myself.

But "on the horizon" might refer to future games that will make use of the new features of the GPU (in marketing terms "delivering new experiences" and yadda, yadda).

If it was the hardware itself that was "on the horizon", then yeah, the horizon is normally something only glimpsed in the distance - not something that's just around the corner!

Why do you keep saying paper launch? Cite your source that stocks will be limited. Hell, cite a rumour that stocks will be limited.

Let's look at history phuroonn.

  • Radeon VII launched on Feb 7 with just 100 units allocated to UK.
https://www.kitguru.net/components/...-is-low-but-more-gpus-are-already-on-the-way/

No actual cards could be bought.
  • Vega paper launch no availability...
https://www.pcgamesn.com/amd/amd-rx-vega-limited-release?amp

Need I continue. That's last three products launched in paper only as nobody could get it.

To know the future, you must understand the past. And past AMD releases have been shocking.
Add to this the added manufacturing pressure for console GPUs and you won't have a card until 2021.

Well, it keeps this thread going :D

Humbug, you've been revving yourself up in anticipation. You need to go into a darkened room, wind down for bit and come out in few weeks, refreshed and raring to go again.....for another announcement :p

AMD tweeted about the Zen 3 October 8 tweet.
Its an announcement tweet for an announcement.

That's some weird logic you got going on there. Why are you even in this thread? Clearly there is nothing AMD can ever do that will be acceptable in your mind.

You and all the rest of Jensen shill bots in this thread should just go and buy your 3080 with 10gb(snigger) of vram. Knowing nvidias track record though it'll just be replaced in a few months with a new one with appropriate vram capacity for its targetted resolution, so good luck with that.

Anyone who is having a mad cry about AMD being late or whatever other nonsense, go and buy a 3080. AMD does not give two ***** about you, i promise. They are about to have the most successful CPU of many many years, they will make hundreds of millions on console sales, their GPUs are about to give all NVIDIA morons buyers remorse. If you can't wait an extra fee weeks too No! bad. Go back to the ampere thread
Why do you have to resort to childish name-calling?
There are AMD fans in this thread who are frustrated by their actions.

How was Vega a paper launch? Plenty of people on here got their Vega cards the day after launch, and that was with competition from miners wanting the cards. So much for "nobody could get it".
