"Deep collaboration with game developers and ecosystem partners" is an interesting statement. Are AMD actually going to push to have their features in games now.

I personally feel it shouldn't be too difficult to get a AMD card. The node process will yield much higher production numbers, and if they have any sense, they will use this extra time to amass a stockpile of cards.

If it's a preorder card, you have a good chance of obtaining it, but if it's only released on the specific day, a little bit of F5'ing should get you one. We also have to remember that AMD isn't nearly as popular as NVIDIA in the GPU space, so that makes it easier.

I don't think stock for Big Navi will be as limited as some suggest. Zen 3 though? Ha, that may well be very different.
Personally, I'd be stockpiling Zen 3 by the hanger full rather than RDNA2. Bonus - much smaller, more per hanger :p

Already 22 games support FidelityFX already its been out for like 9 Months That is a very fast turn around. AMD features are so much better because they are Open and allow devs to play around and change them to there needs.

5700xt isn't even much of an upgrade over Vega 64, it's around 15-20% faster depending on the game. Was considering one a while back.

I agree its not something you upgrade from VEGA but if you come from anything below vega its an excellent upgrade. They is a few games that just simply run much better than vega, Forza being one and Horizon zero dawn another, and I believe that gab will get much bigger over time.

The announcement graphic, the centre image is obviously a fan, hinting at the new cooler probably, though the fan blade looks more blower than axial.

We will probably get performance and pricing during the event. Interesting they have this time separated out the CPU and GPU launch. Last year Zen2 and Navi launched together in June.
I guess so. Probably has more impact to separate them, double the publicity. Also they can be reviewed separately. I don't think it was popular last time with reviewers due time constraints.

you're reading too much into it :)

AMD themselves already confirmed no more blower coolers from them.

I think if that production sample revision is quicker than a 3070 and trading blows almost with a 3080 then I think that is the Navi 22 someone tweeted about being reduced to $549. So basically I think they're aiming for 3070ti at a price only slightly more than a 3070. Big Navi I think will target 3080ti and be somewhere up to 3090 perf, maybe falling a bit short but better value.

Yes, but its a bit odd they would have a graphics with whats obviously a blower fan in it. Maybe they'll have a big blower fan mock up on stage and have someone destroy it with a sledgehammer!

I still think AMD will do well to match the RTX3080!!

On paper, they've got the ability and tech available to beat it.. it's whether they have the appetite for it. It's a balancing act of yields/performance/profit margins - for both companies, but especially AMD as their finances are a lot tighter and they have the smaller mindshare... personally I think AMD need to push a product out that beats the 3080, it might not make them the most money short term but I think it's a strong investment in the consumer mindshare - it wouldn't look good to have another generation of cards where AMD is nowhere to be seen at the top. Short term financially, they're way better off focusing on 3070 level for less money and the market below - but even as an AMD defender, I'd probably be writing them off at that point if I ever wanted a performance card..

Agree. Personally I dont think you can claim to have a 'Big Navi' if you didn't think you had the kahunas to pull off something. If they dont - then so be it. Worse case scenario is I dip out this round till a later refresh and grab a PS5 to span the 5+ years on a good TV.

Its more things such as memory bandwidth, which for me is the main bottleneck. If AMD has improved bandwidth utilisation with RDNA2,they can get away with similar sized memory controllers,if not there is only so much they can with GDDR6! A 512 bit GDDR6 memory controller or HBM2 might be solve the issue, but would be expensive. So this is why I think RTX3080 level performance might be doable,if AMD goes with a 384 bit GDDR6 bus. They can probably achieve similar bandwidth to the RTX3080 and its 320 bit GDDR6X bus.
