AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

No who cares how much better it is than the 5700xt? It needs to be better than the Nvidia, not better than it's previous card. It's like buying a Corsa because it's 60% faster than a Corsa even though the Fiesta is 40% faster than it and the same price. It's irrelevant how much faster it is than the previous Corsa if the Fiesta is beating it.

You don't buy something compared to something else that has no relevance.

Ok:

It really doesn't need to perform better than Nvidia, it just needs to hit a better price/performance ratio. If they bring a 2080ti performance level card at £350ish they'll sell a shedload.

It doesnt even need to be better than nvidia if your going to buy nvidia anyway Begbie. I dont care what you buy!

Not everything is about nvidia. I was never going to buy the 3080 because I simply need more performance and VRAM without the extortionate price of the 3090.

Exactly.

I've traditionally been a Radeon buyer as they've always provided more for the money, so to speak, and the cards have always fit in to my budget. I'm expecting a card that may trade blows with the 3070 at a better price point but who knows? I'm not in the market for a new GPU yet.

My point to Begbie (that he's missing) is if its 60% better than a 5700XT, you will know if its gonna trade blows 3070/3080. The whole point in basing it on that (5700XT) is AMD said its +50% better than RDNA1.

same goes for nvidas numbers as well all we know for now is a 3070 is supposed to be faster than a 2080ti by how much thats debatable. as you cant even make guesses at if amd's cards can beat nvidias if we dont even know exactly how nvidias will actually perform.

Precisely, the claims are pointless as even though nvidia has 'released' their cards we still do not know if the 3070 actually beats the 2080Ti yet from the original claims that it does. What we do know from existing benchmarks is in what games a 2080ti beats a 5700XT by.

It needs to be twice as fast as 5700XT to hit the rumoured 3080 performance. IMO it does need to compete at that level.

If those specs are true, yes, its a monster and Nvidia are not running away with it this time.

GPU are a marathon with years of development and if AMD managed this (to be seen yet) then the next generation be very interesting indeed and maybe this is what Jensen knew that AMD will just beat them and had to resort to ray tracing design

I've never once said I AM BUYING Nvidia, I will buy what suits me at the time. I said if it was equal I will buy Nvidia, mostly for a change. Please read before you misquote people.

The only point I'm making is that I will buy making a decision on a versus comparision units available just now. So I will compare Nvidias offerings vs AMDs. Not AMDs now vs yesterdays AMDs.

What will it trade blows with the 3070 or the 3080, if it's 3070 for £599 as per your orginal question then I'm clearly buying the 3070. If it's the 3080 then the decision may be swayed in the 3080 purely based on what I know right now. But then I'm a patient consumer and wouldn't buy till months after the release of both to see what really works best for the £:Perf ratios.

It might have separate IO / IMC like Zen 2.

Breaking the leak down:

80 CU's (5700XT X2)
1.17X IPC (+17%)
Able to sustain clocks over 2Ghz, 5700XT sustains about 1.9Ghz, lets say Big Navi sustains 2.2Ghz like the PS5 (+15%)

Add it all up and Big Navi is +132% over a 5700XT. After scaling, absolutely 5700XT X1.9 to X2.3.

So what do people think of Kopite's tweet?? HD4870 vs GTX260??

Well the 3080 is not 50% faster than the 2080TI, not even close and the 3090 is not that much better. In fact the 3090 is more 2080TI +50% than the 3080 is.

Nvidia never said that. It said as fast as....come on people....

Yep, Jonney is confused again :p:D

Here you go:

Look forward to your reply :p

Funny thing here is, you was expecting the 3080 to be twice the performance of the 2080Ti, but thought lets wait for AMD as they may be able to beat it or have any impact on it in shape or form? As you was saying you are waiting on AMD. Lol :D

Yeo that's kidna where I am rigth now, if it is 100% faster than 5700XT..

1). That's an incredible result for AMD bearing in mind where they were 12 months ago
2). That's enough for me to upgrade as that means 120fps4k for me

The 3080 is a good chunk faster than a 2080TI if the leaks are anything to go by its about 25% faster, i'm giving it another 10 percentage points, if its not Nvidia are in deep poo.

I was thinking of the 3070 opps
Sorry...

Its not that - is more what Rogame was implying. The GTX260 was the second fastest Nvidia card after the GTX280 and the HD4870 matched it. Or are they implying AMD can match Nvidia with much smaller die sizes??

Oh i see, if those leaks are true yes, absolutely......

We already knew that was going to happen? TSMC 7nm vs Samy 8nm. Its like the 5700XT vs 2070 Super, similar performance but the 5700XT is about half the size.
