Now that 3d renders of the card are available on fortnite..anyone got the die size down?
The fact AMD are using Fortnite of all things to reveal GPU's makes me nauseous, it's imo a terrible marketing strategy. Why reveal the cards in a game played primarily by kids and young adults who rarely even have disposable income to buy anything of significance without their parents supporting them, instead of the finding a more balanced way to show it to the much wider AMD gaming community? It feels... cheap. https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-showcases-radeon-rx-6000-graphics-card-design

EDIT - Ahh ok, also apparently shortly afterwards on Twitter. https://twitter.com/Radeon/status/1305612438675562505

Sony cuts PS5 production forecast by 40%, reported by Bloomberg due to poor yields. TSMC's yields for the SOC is under 50%.

what does this mean for RDNA2? No one is reporting poor yields for the Xbox and that's an even bigger SOC. The only difference is that the PS5 has a much higher clock speeds. Does this mean RDNA2 doesn't support low cost high clock cards?

28 October 2020 is a long time to wait for RX 6000 series launch. TSMC low yield probably explained it and AMD will ship very few reference cards and no AIB cards this year and AMD probably will ship very few Ryzen 3 CPUs. All PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S APU chips, RX 6000 series GPUs and Ryzen 3 CPUs are all fabricated on TSMC 7nm.

Maybe Nvidia are lucky to use Samsung 8nm.

I've been dropping a few hints as to the situation.

The bloomberg article says as low as 50% not under 50%. It also mention yields are not stable, this to me implies that on a per wafer basis the yields vary wildly. It also doesn't state what the average yield is.

We don't know what average yields they wanted so we what don't know how bad is it. They also noted that the yields are improving.

Is the SoC definitely the APU module or can it be one of the other custom modules that Sony has?

It's funny how offended older enthusiast people seemed to get by this. 79m people play fortnite. What gives old rich dudes any more right to a hardware reveal than anyone else?

I was 14 when I was playing Counter Strike every night. If a geforce map was made in that game id be buzzing.

This strange attitude towards fortnite is pathetic.

Rich old dudes? LOL... if you think everyone over 14-24 (by far the biggest age range category of Fortnite) is 'rich' then you really do live under a rock. :D It is a fact however, that on average people of an older working age will have more disposable income to spend on expensive GPU's

I'm not offended BY Fortnite, I was just irked by the principle AMD making such a targeted release of news that is significant to all AMD fans. If you don't agree then that's fine.

I suspect it's because the only people with the money to buy these cards are the older ones that don't play Fortnite. The only kids I know playing it are about 10 years old. I expect the older kids are playing COD.
