80CU RDNA 2 with 2000+ clock speeds will spank the 3080, especially if they go with HBM or/and a wide bus.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves! I hope it's at least equal but I will wait to see the IPC increases. Hopefully the implementation of Ray Tracing is up to scratch too, especially with Ampere having no discernable boost over Turing other than raw power.

That's certainly where my best-case napkin maths puts it. Won't get to the 3090 but would be close enough to warrant a discussion and take notice.

I'm still saying 40 CUs at 225W will land between the 3070 and 3080 (probably at £600 so in the middle of their prices too), triggering that 16GB 3070 Ti that's been rumoured.

Is Moore's Law Is Dead a credible source of info? Where does he get his info from?
his sauces apparently?

MLID makes educated guesses imho and then draws it out into a story, no different from Red Gaming Tech. Not an Apple Fan makes educated guesses too but he is very clear and open about that where as others seem to dress up non-news and leaks from people making all manner of assumptions themselves. Its basically all guess work because the people in the real know are heavily restricted and decisions are made just in time by maybe 1 or 2 people.

So far there is little to give him credibility - his "exclusive" leaks have been way wide of the mark and his more correct information has been presented after the fact when it has broken first by other sources.

Yeah - there are only about 3 sources (who regularly leak) that have any kind of real inside track - pretty much all these YT channels are either educated guesses or purely making BS up.

I know enough to know most of these don't have any real sources (EDIT: At least when it comes to nVidia stuff - I don't know anyone to talk to these days on the AMD side)

It is, but surely AMD have been aiming to beat the previous gen best card (2080ti) with their new gen top tier card (6900 or whatever), it would be a massive fail to be behind the 2080ti this gen. So something better than the 2080ti, whether its 25~30% better like the 3080 or less just needs to be priced right to attract attention.

RTX 2080 Ti is around 34- https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-rx-5700-xt.c3339
-50% https://www.techpowerup.com/review/asrock-radeon-rx-5700-xt-taichi-oc-plus/27.html
faster than the RX 5700 XT.

RDNA 2 is projected to be at least 50% more power efficient, so you can get a 300-watt RDNA 2 card with 50% higher performance per watt than the around 180-190-watt RX 5700 XT.

I think most of us have sussed that the YT channels are mostly all about the ad revenue.

Facts are strictly optional ;) If you can spend hours waffling at a camera and aren't (quite) the most annoying person in the country, you have a decent chance of running a successful YT channel peddling nonsense :p

Yeah I am not sure why they have done that, hopefully it's just a testbed and they correct it for the real card.

Or.... they know something about the ventilation and its efficiency that we don't...

what node is it going to be on?

7nm? TSMC process, same as 5700xt. but it has to be 100% quicker.

I think the original is N7, this will be N7P or N7+, maybe 7-12% better.
