I'm guessing that every time a new person logs their order details on that site the more reliable the data becomes.

Indeed and its no just somebody putting an earlier order number for the same card which bumps you down the queue but the total amount of each card has been extrapolated based on the dataset entered so far.

Eg you may be 750th out of 1000 cards of one brand based on the fact that 8% of all cards sold was that brand and based on your ON you will be three quarters of the way down the list.

But as people add new data and suddenly it turns out that there are double the amount of that card ordered than originally thought, you suddenly become three quarters of a waiting list of 2000 people and you jump to 1500th

Seems someone is selling their preorder from OCUK / EVGA card on eBay. I don't think the buyer is going to be too impressed with waiting a long time for a card they paid above and beyond for.

Are they allowed do that though? I mean if he only bought one card technically he has the right to do what he wants with it. I wish they could cancel them I'm just curious on the technicalities of it

Edit: Lol just noticed his order number ends 5406 so OcUK could find it... But he's in for an even bigger wait as he's at least 5k down the queue, let alone the fact it's EVGA lol.

Yup, it really is sad how many people have listing up for "guaranteed preorders" (not just OCUK order, but all retailers). If you are going to scalp, at least have the decency to get the card in hand first - not that I condone scalping at all
