Noticed the Cichlid mentioned in an earlier leak, curiously its a type of tropical fish found in aquariums...

Found in aquariums? Cichlids are fresh water fish found in a few lakes in Africa, America, Madagascar and Asia with the majority of species found in lake Malawi. Awesome agressive fish are Cichlids.

If Big Navi can consistently match or get close to the RTX 3080 on release we are doing well. For me that'll be cool as it'll likely be a case of the card ageing better in upcoming games due to it's ties with the consoles gpu architecture.

Unless when you say match the RTX 3080 you're also including stuff like DLSS, then even if the performance now is even I'd say the nvidia ones would age much better as you can just pump that up as things become too demanding.

I see that as a worrying sign at the high end because why would AMD price a 3080 - 3090 competitor close to half the price of Nvidia, close to 5700 XT that doesn't add up to me

Mostly likely some confusion as to which AMD product that will be imho

I don't think it'll be $499 but you never know, maybe they are determined to make an epic splash and are looking to undercut the crap out of Nvidia to make them look stupid?

They certainly need to be keenly priced if they want to achieve better market share over NV considering the position AMD are coming from.

i doubt we will see that much more concrete stuff with the event on Oct 8th looming. AMD will want all eyes on Ryzen first and foremost :)

Ryzen sell itself tbh. So this is tosh.

They need to sell us the Radeon and the OCT 28 wait. Otherwise people will just buy 3070/3080/3090 especially with the lockdown looming over the holiday period.

I though this also. But to be honest, have you tried buying a Ampere card?! :p

The 3090 and 3070 aren't going to be any better.

and thats the only bit of breathing room amd has for now, if the navi cards are just as bad (AND NO IM NOT SAYING THEY WILL BE!!!!) and it takes a couple of months to get stock and for demand to drop a little then its a problem but if amd come out swinging with high stock levels i could expect a good gain for them on market share.

AMD has been terrible at launches with its two last top tier GFX cards, aka radeon VII and 5700XT

It pains me to say, i cant see that improving tbh.

After the awful launch I think nv have lost a good chunk of consumer confidence & they will only lose more when they release their more powerful cards as confirmed here:

Feels like amd have an open goal.. really hope they don't miss:p

I dont see a more powerful card there.....All I see is a 20GB version of an existing model?

Open goal yeah damn right! AMD needs solid performance and large quantaty. Thats the key.

Having read your posts over the last few weeks... this is an obvious lie ;)

no evidence that 3080 can be pushed much further, looking at the OC of the 3080s.

Yeah, it seems the 3080s are power limited in OC'ing - this could change with bios updates in the future but I wouldn't hold out much hope. Considering every model we've seen hits roughly the same limits it's probably been dictated by nVidia - either to hide the limits of the architecture or to allow nVidia to release higher power Ti models etc later.

If AMD can match the performance for less money, and have a large amount of stock ready to ship, they could win a large percentage of market share again.

I might come across as a bit of an AMD basher but really I am not. I tried getting a 3080. Didnt get it, **** NVIDIA, botched launch, paper launch whatever you want to call it.
Now I want nothing more than to just buy a 6series AMD card and be done with it, and enjoy the festive season. But I am also quite realistic that product quantity will be bad and we "might" struggle getting a 6series until 2021. Thats my fear. Never mind the performance.
That would bring me right back to leather jacket. And i suspect theres a lot of people in the same boat as me.

In regards to 3080TI doubt we will ever see it.

"20gb 3080TI" even if possible to make, with cherry picked silicon, would be farrrrr too close to 3090 for Nvidia to consider. As it would screw up their product stack.

now 3070TI with a 16gb NAVI nipping at its toes, is a very strong possibility,.

They're hardly likely to release a xx70 part with higher VRAM than the xx80 part. Just not happening. If there's a 16GB 70 Ti/Super coming with double the VRAM then they'll also do an 80 Ti or 80 Super with more. They may even halt production of the lower vram cards of both varieties.

Launching a 70 Ti with 16GB and continuing with an 80 with 10 would just be a confused market.
