Since my thread got closed, I will post this here. How do OCUK justify £180 price increases over the last few days?
I know Gibbo said something about exchange rates for the 3080 but it's probably mainly demand and supply. I don't blame them at all, the company I work for would do no different if they had exclusive stock.

Looks like I'll be de and remuxing a lot of blurays on the 5th of october with the strix oc from a competitor. This website didn't work at 2pm dead so I went to the other tab and they had loads of security but all done by 204pm.

been saying this to a few on here for a couple of weeks now, and something iv noticed. when you point out its not a gaming specific card they go quiet or just ignore that point.
its not a gaming specific card? this is its description on the nvidia page...

The GeForce RTX™ 3090 is a big ferocious GPU (BFGPU) with TITAN class performance. It’s powered by Ampere—NVIDIA’s 2nd gen RTX architecture—doubling down on ray tracing and AI performance with enhanced Ray Tracing (RT) Cores, Tensor Cores, and new streaming multiprocessors. Plus, it features a staggering 24 GB of G6X memory, all to deliver the ultimate gaming experience.

Its not designed for gaming though, its essentially just a rebranded titan

It’s not though. I don’t completely understand it but watch the Linus review. The Titan features aren’t enabled, and don’t think they ever will be. Probably just so they can make an ampere Titan.

Omg seeing the 3090 performance I'm so glad I ordered 3080. Maan that's just garbage card for gaming.
Kinda makes the waiting time easier knowing I'll be 8-10% off the best performance possible at least

Well it's not even marketed to "gamers" or marketed for "gaming" it's marketed as a professional level card. So no idea where your getting this garbage for gaming phrase from when Nvidia don't even market it as such, I don't go to a motorbike shop and say, that bike is garbage for stock car racing

Well he is kind of right. Despite the description it's hard to justify the performance uplift for gaming purposes. Those cards mostly will go to people using them for work, video encoding etc. But I'm sure some will game on it and it's really not worth it for this purpose

Its a gaming card but its not for gaming, just like covid advice, you should go to your works office but you shouldn't go to your works office.

8k Gaming is "cinematic" frame rates or fake 8k via DLSS (Yes DLSS has improved and is meant to give really good results but the fact still is its not native).
Made me laugh when nvidia in the presentation said "Look DLSS has more detail than native resolution" and it was a "THATS NOT HOW IT SHOULD WORK", adding detail that doesn't exist.

I don't think anyone is directly moaning about OCUK. It's a forum on the site that they ordered from. It's nvidia and the brand manufacturers and lack of communication. The NDA and an absolute shambles of a launch.
Yes, we are ****** off with the lack of communication and I'm sure OCUK are not exactly over the moon by it all.
As long as I get my Haribo :D

More likely they know a Titan wouldn't be much faster and are being cautious in case Big Navi turns out to be faster than expected.

Not justifying it - but it's all about demand. Ever bought flights with jet2, Easyjet, ryanair etc?

All the seats are the same class, but prices vary based on the demand for the flight.

Same here. There's also other costs like OCUK potentially paying more for the stock (to get it over competitors, crap £ etc etc.) which passes on to the buyer

still £200 cheaper on Scan. At the end of the day we can all see there was little justification for the price hikes but we still paid ( or chose not to ) so its all a bit irrelevant. Any item is only ever worth what people will pay for it. If you don’t like the price look elsewhere. Tracy Emien’s bed was worth millions. I could buy the constituent parts elsewhere for a few hundred quid. Your money, your choice. Its not terribly ethical but nobody is being forced to buy a GPU.

Something something exchange rates. Meanwhile the exchange rates.

That should be no more than $50 difference (even when considering that banks offer different rates than actual rates). Even if you compare it to the highest point this month 1st sept, that only comes about to $100 difference than what it is today.
