Ampere already has problems.

Memory running at 100c on those pretty reference cards.
AIB cards unstable because Ampere has 0 overclocking headroom and AIB's are still trying to clock them higher to differentiate themselves.
Very sensitive to the quality of your PSU and cables.
100c, what's the TJ Max?

EDIT

100c is TJ Max according to Google research, ouch.

EDIT 2

110c is TJ Max according to someone on HardOCP.

you are familiar with the concept of manufacturing and that there is a finite limit on how much product you can get and if everyone demands it you can run out?

There are loads of people round the world with GPUs, NV just ran out. NV will fix driver issues in a timely manner which same can't be said for AMD.

So yeh despite issues I know what team i'd rather be on, the one that generally delivers a premium product experience.

Agreed, Nvidia have been excellent, but this launch stinks of either cynical profiteering and/or total incompetence.

AMD have always been the underdog, but they've had some stonking products in the past so I'm more than happy to go back to them.

So glad i waited to see what AMD do, the hype for Nvidia was real when they revealed the price but damn talk about shooting yourself in the foot multiple times. Not had AMD since the 6870, hope they dont blow it!

Seems to be down to the weird pcb they went with, ram is located next to voltage components etc making it run hotter.

It is a bit tight yeah, good to see innovation though to be fair... Meanwhile the AIB partners are not allowed to which is pretty lame.

Soon as I heard the cards were 320W and 350W I was out, I knew there would be problems.

This might have been covered as I get confused with everyone having set avatars and I think I saw someone mention this in a thread, but I can't see it in this one as I'm scrolling back through... but the most recent video about the 3090 (I just watched it now) is basically him every slide slagging off nVidia's marketing for claiming the 3090 can do 8K gaming as that's basically a lie and it should only be considered a workstation one.

Hang on, I just watched most of the 8k review and hes clawed back some respect, he's finally sniping at nvidia - its been a while.

^ read back few pages - I acknowledge his honesty (this video)

They don't really need to beat it, they just need to be competitive on performance and price.

This needs to happen, Nvidia have demonstrated all the bad outcomes of having a monopoly.

Great statement.

They're not allowed to rearrange the pcb? I thought asus had already done that with their strix card.

That's a good point there.

Dont leave off:

Rushed launch, lack of supply.
High power consumption (not normal usually they get better each gen).
Cheap initial launch prices.

All of them together point towards they got tipped off and are spooked. They had to do this as its the best they could do.

Exactly. A company like Nvidia don't do things accidentally. They've had their hand forced by circumstances beyond their control.

Interesting now we are seeing competition how certain media outlets are.... towing the party line somewhat...
I would like to see the finances of many of these youtube and website channels, i think they should be made available so under the table handshakes with lots of folded notes stops.

Because there is definitely some money manipulation going on.
