so not 1 update from oc today and on a Friday, 8 days after launch.. this is absolutely pitiful. No one can defend this customer service for communication.

Gibbo hadn't updated anyone. He's had a nice relaxing day chatting about the stock market

Cheers for caring.. ill be cancelling next week if we don't here anything.. livid

Maybe he works Saturday this week and its his day off ? Its only one day without an update?
 

Givin its the biggest sales event of the year.. hey everyone is entitled to a day off but somone must step in to keep customers informed. The anxiety of the community and customers is building

Thanks, it's my first purchase from OCUK. I'm building a new PC for the first time and so far, I have only bought a PSU from the other place (as it was £30 cheaper).
I have all other components to purchase of which I'm holding off until I have a confirmed date for the gpu.
I received excellent communication for the PSU, so I'm realising where my priorities are going to be.
OCUK may not care, but that's on them I guess..Nothing personal.

It certainly matters to know which position in queue we are. If I'm 5th or 5000th makes a huge difference in perception. And it would literally take them few minutes to export all orders to excel, format as table, filter based on card ordered and sort by time ordered. Take that, export to CSV, run a mailmerge and done. Few minutes tops. Then they can work on the automated system. But for what I just described you don't even need scripts. Just excel.

They could do that or they could give it a week for cancellations to come in so it's more accurate or they might start a snowball of cancellations within a day or two and no one knows where they really are because it's not dynamic. If you found out you were 500 in the queue and wanted to cancel but 100 people closer to the start of the queue were going to cancel as well, would you still cancel knowing that you were suddenly going to become 400 in the queue not 500. Then you've got people who find out they're at the back of the queue and want to switch their pre-order to another card which lowers the queue you might be in. Then people find out after swapping their still high in the queue because they weren't quick enough so decide to cancel.

These are possible outcomes from giving out a simple non dynamic queue position early. If you give it a week, let cancellations stabilize, get a few shipments out to bring the queue down, work on a dynamic calculator and most importantly get some accurate info on delivery times and shipment levels they can release with the calculator then it provides a much more accurate and well rounded set of info all at once. Not saying this is going to happen but it's what I'd do. Then again I wouldn't do any any of this because no matter how many cards they've sold or what the margins are nothing is worth this level of hassle.
