@NikTheSHNIK

Hi,was wondering,I get that a real time qeueu calculator will take time, and that you guys are probably bound by some NDA to maybe not tell us some of the exact numbers. But is it maybe possible to post a piechart of the percentage how many card of what type were bought from launch till now lets say?

Even though you wouldn't be giving us any exact number I think this will calm the minds of majority of people here.

Hi guys

Just catching up with all the posts on Reddit (Zotac), there are a lot of unhappy people on there! I'm tempted to bin that card and switch to another 3080 (and obviously go to the back of the que), what do you guys think? 1-4% is not huge but its annoying. Whats everyone else here doing who ordered a Zotac 3080?
Its not just Zotac, MSI, Gigabyte, Asus, EVGA have changed the reference design to a different cheaper capacitor choice...
Jayztwocents explains it well here.. why all of these cards have screwed us.

Personally, when all the fuss about the lower power limit occurred, I said to myself that I'd probably cancel after a week of non-delivery. The reasons are: cold-feet, silly impulse buy emotions, no longer willing to take the hit of being a beta tester, AMD cards releasing very soon, more competition and stock so prices trend downwards, my GTX 1080 is probably good enough, I've waited 3-4 years so what's another month or so's wait relatively, etc.

It's not really about the objective 1-4% loss, it's just that it feels like they did everything possible to cut the cost and run the card as close to the limit as they could. That principle meant that situations like this are more likely to arise in the future, whether it be a week later like now (aware of the confirmation bias here) or a few months/years of decreased card life. Contrast that with the increasing amount of points being awarded to Asus on their base TUF card and they still managed to price it similarly (at least here in the UK, and it's actually cheaper at the mo than the Zotac Trinity)

Now with this drama, it just makes more sense to enjoy gaming life as I have been doing since and be better informed when I check in a month or so.

But I'll sleep on it some more given it's the weekend, so independent people can look into the MLCC/POSCAP theory before there's a chance that my card may be shipped.

Not true or proven at all. Just a theory.

Also Asus TUF was explained to be exempt as using much better quality capacitors.

Was just going to post this also, Glad I went with the TUF, it uses a full array of better quality capacitors, more than even the FE card.

Its not just Zotac, MSI, Gigabyte, Asus, EVGA have changed the reference design to a different cheaper capacitor choice...

I cancelled mine tonight, I was having doubts about zotac for a few days and Jay was the final nail in the coffin. putting the money into a cpu upgrade and I'll come back to the 3080 when stock is more available. I'm leaning towards a strix OC now.

its just a theory at this point.

Although basing queue position based on order number would be the sensible way to go i mean not when PP/braintree processed the payment. If order number dosent mean **** a lot of people let it go on a long time without saying anything :D:D:D

There is a lot of dark now.. No stock update, weeks of wait, really silly impulses to check news every morning, lower power issues, crashing cards. Given that my 1080ti is working great, and have been using 3+ years, i dont mind waiting another month or so to get a stable version than this rushed version..

As someone who has not called, emailed nor submitted 1 webnote, I'd prefer a rough estimate to guage as a consumer whether OCUK has the ability to fulfil orders going forward or to reconsider my choice of product.

Regardless of how many points of contact you've had with us, our ability to fulfill your order depends on our ability to fulfill any orders before yours, and then yours.

It is therefore dependent on the board partners abilities to fulfill the orders we have put on with them.

I'm sure @Gibbo will be updating you guys as soon as he has reliable info.

Then you will be able to make an informed decision over how to proceed on the best, most reliable information available.

I don't believe at any other reseller could you get this kind of information as fast and as reliably as we can give it to you.

Jesus christ, guys have you heard all over youtube and the net today as more people get their 3080s, Dead on arrival ones, crashing in all games, lower speed/power than FE, I have not seen 1 good review, not even 1.

This is not good guys, I think Nvidia have really ****** up more than we know it.

Just as we thought it couldn't get any worse, these cards a awful!!

As I mentioned earlier ,and is now confirmed by OC staff, the order number which is used to calculate queue position is based on processed payment not order time ,making it completly invalid even for rough estimate.Until we get an official one we are all in the dark.

I guess it is nice that thats confirmed, but we kinda knew that on Monday after some of us that didn't get emails then had order numbers much higher than our order time aligned with.

To be honest that is the main reason I've been plotting graphs, because matching order time to the curve for each card programatically seemed too much work, but we should all be capable of looking at a graph and seeing that based on the 2600+ data points we have (which is surely enough to get a resonably accurate trend line) roughly so many cards were ordered at a set point.

Did you check out Jayztwocents and igorslab... AIB has really messed up on the built quality and capacitor placements.

This is only a theory at the moment, it could be driver related, lets not jump the gun here.

This is the kind of transparency people have been wanting all along, it might not be what we want to hear but it's better than nothing.

Although, I have to ask, how have your direct competitors managed to provide dates for incoming stock?

I keep hearing how OCUK get the largest amount of stock, surely if that's the case then the board partners would be giving you stock information ahead of other companies?

OCUK have the most enthusiast customers on the market. It's within board partners interests to get our customers their best hardware first.

We and they however will never divulge stock allocations so as to prevent any relationship fallout between us, the vendor or the vendor and other resellers.

Thanks guys, I had doubts about Zotac when I ordered it, new I should have gone for the ASUS which was my other choice.

I'm going to sleep on it for the weekend like acblueflame said, and see what happens, but its really annoying. Reddit is on fire, they will have to do something, the brand will be heavily hit if they don't.

Do you think its fixable with a software update? the cooling solution actually reads pretty good.

From what some of the reddit electrical engineers have posted, it's possible that Asus' 6x MLCC implementation isn't the best interpretation of the Nvidia component spec either. I believe it's mentioned that you need a combination of MLCC & POPCAPs - one MLCC in the middle, one POPCAP on either the left or right edge, and the other four is up to the AIB to do as they see fit.

I'll point out again that a number of us have mentioned since Monday that the order number we have doesn't align with our order time.

I really hope they aren't using the order number, or whatever time they managed to sync up their payment system to the store system, because despite ordering at 3:16pm on the 17th, and the money leaving my account then, my order didn't change from awaiting payment confirmation to order recieved between Saturday night and Sunday morning. That was nothing to do with any of us, it was their servers fairling under the load of orders. I think some of us would be understandably upset if we were days back in the queue due to OC's server issues.

Cant fix sketchy components with an update, they went below spec to save money and customers are paying the price

The funniest thing about all of this debate is that Poscap is actually more expensive than MLCC.1 for 1 anyway.

truth is at present nobody knows what is causing the issues. It’s an extremely worrying time for all, I don’t think any card is completely safe at present.

may very well cancel after a night to think things over. At least Navi will pile on the pressure
