I don't think so. The cards will be out early Nov most likely, before you get your 3090 I'd say.
I don't see how AMD can guarentee enough RDNA 2 desktop GPU stock for everyone. Is it even rational to expect them to know what the demand will be like?
We have an official announcement on the 28th of October. There's been no launch in history where AMD have gone from an announcement, to product's being in stock a week later. They'd literally have to be shipping cards worldwide right now for that to happen.
That said, I can cancel my 3090 strix oc pre-order if AMD release a card within a few weeks, just as long as it's similar performance in both rasterization and RT, with no driver issues. That would be lovely, as I prefer AMD cards, I've had them since the 9800pro years ago!

AMD released when they were ready. You see what happens even to the mighty nvidia when you rush something.
Just because you bought a 3090 as it was available doesnt mean you can blame AMD for being slow. Do all the component manufacturers agree to release products together or for a certain time of year? People are just impatient.
AMD said they would release the cards before consoles from what I can remember. Rumor is after the end of October announcement cards should be available second week November. If this holds true, you may see people with AMD cards playing games before 3080/90 buyers which is laughable considering people banged on about nvidia beating AMD to launch with nothing to show..

Last I heard was TSMC 7nm production is maxed out, making millions of PS5/Xbox chips, Ryzen chips etc. I can't see there being adequate stock, even if big Navi is competitive.
Can't be any less than the 30 series, so I'd say your wait for an AMD card will be less than your 3090.
Also, AMD have around 43k 7nm wafers P/m right now, so i think they'll be fine
Didn't they just take a load of 7nm allocation from Huawei too?
Didn't they just take a load
The console RDNA GPUs may only have 64 ROPs. The specs on techpowerup for the Series X is just an estimate.
Assuming they are both 64 ROPs, you have to wonder AMD would choose to do that, considering the important of pixel rate when running games at 4K resolution.
Is it likely they would double the ROP count for some of the desktop variants?
It's been a long time since I've used VSR but it allows you to render in higher resolution, even at desktop. I use to use it on my old pc setup years ago which was at a lower resolution. It allowed me to render a 1200p resolution up to 1600p. Which was great, I loved it (and still miss it today). And it also worked like SSAA in game but at a performance hit. But it only worked on certain resolutions:they're not the same, they're coming at things from a different angle aren't they?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but how I understand it is that Radeon VRS takes a 1440p resolution and downscales it to 1080p, for example, for a smoother image but uses all the processing power 1440p requires. This seems to principally be for people with 1080p or 1440p monitors, with processing power to burn, who want to scale down a 1440p or 4k image respectively.
Trixx boost does, the far more useful, upscaling of a lower resolution to a higher resolution. Which, combined with image sharpening, produces an image that's nearly as good as the full resolution but without the performance overhead of the full resolution.
Perhaps a combination of all 3 of these could produce something akin to 1440p image quality, with 1080p performance on a 1080p monitor
+1Think you mean Nvidia paper launched to get in front as atm all we can confirm is AMD are on there target launch. Yea Nvidia got a few cards out and you are lucky to have got one but saying AMD were to slow is dismissing NV's horrible half attempt at a launch.
The 3090... aka 3080 ME (Mug Edition). Enjoy that 10% speed boost for only 110% extra cash!Drivers are the biggest concern. Navi was a let down in terms of drivers; there were issues that took 6 months to resolve... I'm hoping AMD take enough time to release a solid card that will win back trust.
Sadly this time around I need a HDMI 2.1 card asap, as I'm limited to 4k60hz on my CX48, and I really want to try 120Hz at 4k, hence my Strix 3090 OC order. AMD were too slow for me this generation, though I'm glad they aren't rushing things out, as per my above sentence.
The big Navi announcement is the end of October, where they may release a launch date? I'm guessing that will be Jan/February, as I think it's too late for them to hit the festive period, though happy to be wrong on this one.
