Well ya want i throw ya a bone this is from US tho
that's interesting first real insight into what MSI are doing, we've heard next to nothing from them so far

of course this information will raise awkward questions about the US market getting any preferential treatment from a global supplier, that wont look good for them if that happens

16th October for the OC Strix, interesting considering the last update was they were about to come into stock.

It could be extra time to get them over to the US but definitely sounds like potentially a recall to adjust them?
They wont "adjust" anything they would BIN them cards instead i be due to cost involved in changing stuff.

I read on a website that orders shipped after 20th of October are no longer eligible for the promotional bundle which includes Watch Dogs Legion and Geforce now subscription. Can anyone confirm this ?

That came from chap that runs a store Also posted order he placed to confirm its legit but there is store name on it so cant post here :P

has there been any dates for the 3080/90 Aorus xtreme? not just for UK but anywhere

The last I read on the Aorus twitter page was that they were focusing on fulfilling orders for the eagle and gaming OC and didn’t have dates for the Xtreme cards yet :( shame as I have one on order too. I did speak to a guy at OCUK and he said you’ll be lucky if you see it in Jan and chuckled.

Was confirmed by Gibbo it was limited amount of cards offer from nv

I have worked in IT for a long time as well, but I also know that often when something seems trivially easy... it isn't.
OCUK has been around for a while. There ordering system/DB could be archaic. I have seen systems hanging on by a thread that people are afraid to touch.
Given that OCUK has both their main website and forums on connected hardware, as demonstrated by events on the 17th Sept, goes to show that their IT architecture probably has a bit to be desired. If it is outsourced, that will make matters even worse. Also adding a new form, especially one linked to a database, creates a new attack vector.

I have done quick releases before. I call it "putting the cowboy hat on". But they are very risky, especially if you are not used to doing them. We all would love a Dev-Ops team in every IT department, but the cost is often prohibitively high. I doubt OCUK have this capability.

Does that mean OCUK are in the right? no. Adding a queue checker is likely difficult for them. But they could generate and post a static report to give us more information. Hell, even just providing more accurate numbers to the unofficial queue calculator would be a big help.

Ok... can someone please ask Gibbo to provide more accurate data to the unofficial queue calculator? (I am just a newbie around here, he probably won't listen to me)

People are afraid to touch old archaic systems for many reasons, but the fact is this would be a SELECT from the database and runs no risk of altering or messing with existing systems, you're not modifying or updating data you're literally just doing a count of a database so there's zero risk. If it was something vastly more complicated then I would agree wholeheartedly, but it's kinda hard to overstate how simple of a thing this is for an experienced developer. I've done hot fixes to live environments for small things like this god knows how many times in my career. I currently work on a custom CMS/site and sometimes dept heads will ask for some esoteric bit of information or stat which I can provide from the database and often rather than just giving it to them by email or spreadsheet or whatever, I'll just write the query to generate it and throw that into a new page in the CMS and it takes like 15m to do that, as normally if they want a stat they're gonna want it again in future, they can just re-visit the page and check. In the same way the amount of CS queries I'm sure they're taking on these cards alone could easily be slashed in half if customers had a live queue screen in their account page.

The SQL to pull the data would almost certainly be less characters than the paragraph above, it's basic SELECT, JOIN and COUNT and ORDER.

Maybe there are other circumstances preventing this, maybe there's lead time on them having dev done with whoever does it, or they're being taken for a ride by some 3rd party dev house who are inflating the time/cost to scam them, who knows, I don't discount that. But the actual technical side of things, it's really trivial if you have direct access to the DB.

That might happen on some cheaper products such as Dell who have that policy, but founders edition cards cost Nvidia an estimated $150 without the GPU factored in, no one is going to be scrapping these cards in volume unless a new PCB is required. They'll be reworked and the far East will have loads of factories able to do this fast & cheap.

You're making a lot of assumptions, you have no idea what their infrastructure looks like and you have no idea how they're handling things like cancellations in the background. Opinions and facts are different things

After a week of lurking here and some great entertainment to pass the time I'm afraid I'm out. Cancelled my Palit non OC order. Thinking about it is starting to consume me and I really don't need this bother, especially for a bloody GPU. £700 is a lot to fork over for something you've no idea when you're going to receive.

It's a combination of things:

1) My money being tied up indefinitely in OCUK bank account.
2) The uncertainty around the current issues with the 3080. Who knows what the issue is, but don't fancy staring down a potential RMA and being left without a card for an indefinite amount of time. My opinion is that there's not enough headroom with these GPU's given their power draw, and GPU boost is making them unstable. Probably an easy enough fix, but it will entail basically downclocking/undervolting your card.
3) No lead times with new shipments.
4) The almost certainty that the 3080 will get a 20Gb variant (this will matter for 4k gaming down the road).
5) The fact Palit seem to have seriously cheaped out on components on their cards, yet I got paid almost £700.
6) If Big Navi is even 10% to 15% slower than the 3080 but has 16Gb of ram, this in my opinion is more future proof for 4k gaming than the 10Gb 3080. I've seen some titles nearly hit the 10Gb ram limit at 4k Ultra (Horizon, Metro) , whether this is requested ram or in use ram is another thing, but that's a bit too close for comfort for me.
7) The serious lack of info regarding my order, especially given that they took money up front. Might not be the fault of OCUK but I feel given that they are taking full money up front they should be better with communication. I do feel OCUK could have handled this far better. They even had a staff member come on here yesterday and basically make fun of people stressing over this. Gives you a bit of an insight into how they're approaching this.

I've currently got a 1080ti which is grand for 1440p but struggles with 4k. Really makes you wonder why they gave the 1080ti 11Gb but the 3080 only got 10Gb.... Will watch Big Navi news closely.
Will probably upgrade my 2700x with the new AMD cpu in the meantime. Wish you guys all the best and hope it works out for you.
