Just got off the phone with OCuK.

They said the queue position they're configuring will be based on the time order is placed for people who paid by card.

If you paid my Amazon, Finance, etc. then the queue position is based on the time the payment/agreement was approved.

They also said we will be waiting for the queue system for another 2-3 weeks.
That's insane, why would they not just use the time of order for everyone? Payment processing time is hardly the fault of the buyer...

This is surely going to cause a lot of unnecessary upset if true.

That does make sense as I paid by card and the time on my email is exactly the time I ordered to the second, I did wonder how people had different times on emails but that explains it I guess.

Yeah, I'm just going off the information I got from them.

Queue position is based on how you paid.

So if my email has the time of 14:34:47, and I paid by card (Braintree), it should mean that is the time and queue position of my order?!
They told me to ignore the time you received the email as there was a huge backlog. The queue time will be based on the time you placed the order if you paid by CC.

It doesn't take that long to develop a queue system. This is a simple development task. @Gibbo any clarification on this otherwise I imagine there's going to be quite a few annoyed customers.

Exactly, money left my account the second I clicked buy but it wasn't "processed" until after 5pm, that would be idiotic if they bumped people down because of something out of their control.

First come first served is what they said.

Interesting; the chap I spoke to a week Saturday said nothing about Amazon payments being a factor in the queuing system (I can't remember his exact words but he said that the queue would be based on when the order was received).

I'm not sure how this works in my case since I got an e-mail from OCUK at 16:54 saying payment authorised and then Amazon sent an e-mail about 3AM saying payment made.

Can't help but think that I might have dropped further down the queue.

At this point, everyone who's paid has paid. Doesn't matter when or how, we've all made an order and paid in full. What does any delay in finalizing payment have to do with the time we ordered and the fact that everyone's paid for a product they're yet to deliver?

So someone could order through Amazon at 2:30 but get their card after someone who ordered at 22:30 with their card because Amazon didn't approve their payment until midnight?

Anyone here order around 14:46 I did and paid by card, got an order number of 58612XX. If anyone ordered by paypal or amazon pay at the same time it would be interesting to see if your order number is close to mine or a lot later due to payment processing delay?

They probably simply do not know, if they have say 1000 orders for wizzbang 3080 and they are forecasted to get 10 in, if you post that then 900 will cancel and ask for refunds, but O Clockers will have ordered the 900 from wizzbang to fulfill the orders they have in place, they are then stuck with that or trying to cancel part orders, and then the forecasted 10 due to arrive might turn out to be 140...

Best thing possible for OC now would be to have 900 cards in with no pre-orders for, they could open up sales again and they would sell out instantly, again. There is ZERO risk for them now we all know that the cards will sell out, they could even open international orders again if they were worried. They don't need to worry about cancellations, as soon as they have any excess cards in, they will just open up orders again or let us know there is a surplus of a certain model and they will be gone in seconds.
