Why oof?

The cap reason for crashing has been debunked, plenty with more of the desired type crashing and some with only the undesired type not.

Most likely an issue caused by immature bios with relation to boost clocks.
not really been debunked. Evga and other board partners did confirm the MLC do help. And other have proven it can help with small overclocks and stability. But so little it's pointless. I'm not bothered what I get. I would prefer the more MLC but f it. Just be happy getting a card.

nvidia have come forward and said that cards was In production since august. The march part you are referring to is the chips the self. Now whilst the chips may be plentiful only giving manufacturers 6 weeks total to start making cards is not a lot of leeway and giving them 3 cards to make makes it even worse.

pc partner in a article I read said they can make about 400k a month on there production lines and that’s then split between 3080 3070 3090 for zotac plus sapphire ones for amd for the 6000 series cards also I know that just 1 manufacture but gives u as good idea how low the stock was on launch day for 3 SKU of nvidia cards
Still doesn't fly! Worldwide availability on 17th September was just 10 - 20 000 cards i.e. 5% of just one board partners monthly output! since then and we are now on the 30th of September we should have received another 200K WW from that vendor alone, I doubt we've seen much more than a doubling of the original stock levels.

I get the impression that the drivers featured boosting profiles based upon the FE card with their cap setup. That was just a little too much for other cards so they pushed a driver update out to be less aggressive.

who is giving you these numbers? You realise that with this pandemic factories arent running even half capacity let alone full cap.... relax and go for a jog with your impatience.

Yup that the number I seen flying around from BEFORE lunch even that there is only around 20 000 cards WORLDWIDE produced.

With corvid i bet factories lost 30% of working capacity or so.

Just speculating here but I think half the problem maybe, people are still cancelling and changing orders, and they maybe dont want to give people a wrong queue number, incase they cancel because its higher than they liked, They dont want to lose sales with incorrect information IMO,
Who knows,
From what ive seen there has been updates,
Were told when they are expecting stock and how much "roughly" sometimes,
People were also told on the 17th i think, if you ordered after 3pm on the 17th you were looking at October/November , between 2 and 3 pm September/October, along that sort of time frame anyway, it was what seems like ages ago now that was said so dont hang me if thats incorrect lol.
So if you ordered a day or days later its pretty obvious by now your boned lol, Unless your particular card manufacturer pulls their finger out their butt and makes a lot of cards.... fast,

Anybody with any common sense whatsoever would make the Queue Number generator for your card automatically update for Cancellations/Swaps and the rare at moment Dispatch.
So any number you get on request is the latest position, even if only updated once a day (overnight).

IF YOU HAVE 2 ORDERS FOR A 3080, GET IN TOUCH WITH OCUK CS AND CANCEL ONE BEFORE THEY DO.

I have joined the order cancelled crowd for my ASSUS TUF which I ordered @1730hrs on 17th Sept.

Recieving an enforced cancellation (my second and later order) of my preferred card (Gigabyte Vision) this morning without concultation (despite calling last week to seek assistance in narrowing down my choice) and Customer Service today not being able move my ASUS order (as only one order per customer allowed) to the Vision (paid through Amazon pay so the difference in price too significant to wave) means I have to completely reorder any 3080 Vision and join the back of the queue. Really gutted at this outcome.

Ouch man, that sucks :( I'm sorry

There is no super special separate 3080 queuing system. When stock comes in, the system pulls up the oldest open order with that stock item on it and the friendly packing person tosses it in a box with a bag of sugary treats. To do what people want, they'd have to tell phone staff to not let people swap 3080s.

Well if there is'nt there should be, you ordered a specific item, not a time slot.

Somebody Quoted a post earlier that as of 1st October there is no swap without cancelling and reorder to back of new cards queue.

Gutted for you. I've now requested cancellation of my original order, so now all in on the Vision. Thanks for the cautionary tale, that said, they could mistakenly cancel my Vision order and be left with no order! That would be just my luck :)

I believe there is a relatively short queue for the Vision, fingers crossed you get your order bud.

Really am curious how many people have actually canceled orders due to the lack of updates and clarity from OCUK....
Not enough to bother them I bet. It's always the small loud minority, Just look how em SJW's are hyping movies and then it is totall finantial disaster :D

Impatience? I'm attempting to rationalise and explain a situation and nowhere within that have I shown any kind of impatience! OCUK told me they had secured 1% of WW stock prior to launch and from that we can estimate what that was. Perhaps you could provide some evidence to support the statement that factories are only running half capacity when Foxconn have made a statement they are operating full capacity, and have been now for some time?

Oh I won't be losing any sleep over it but this along with the fact manufacturers are changing their cards show there is some validity to the issue.

Have we actually had confirmation of this i.e. a before and after image of the cards? I know there's been a driver update to address the boost clock issue, perhaps the caps actually hid this issue, rather than fixed it outright, it seems to have been a possible combo of baseline specs + dodgy GPU drivers...
