*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Everyone knows what a preorder is, so I agree it was a little condescending.

However a lot of impatience being shown on this forum and people venting anger and posting things that are against forum rules. Its bound to affect the mood of everyone here especially people such as EVH that have to spend hours a day moderating the posts.

Folk should be allowed to vent if they feel hard done by. If it goes beyond the rules then fair enough. No need to patronise others just because more established posters will back them up though.

Personally, I would like to give a big shout out to all the OCUK staff that having to deal with this whole problem. It must be incredibly annoying to say that same thing on repeat all day.

In fairness to gibbo, his main job isn’t to baby sit a 3080 launch, I’m sure when with all this going on, he still has other duties.

also, big shout out to the mods, having to police this section of the forums has basically become a full time time alone. If they do come across as “rude or condescending”, it most likely that they are fed of telling you the same thing over and over again, and blatant rule braking over and over.

You’re pre-ordering. As in, purchasing now before you have it.

I understand what you’re saying but technically it’s a pre-order if there’s none in stock.
They tolerate it for game launches, it’s mind boggling they can’t do it with this. How many people pre order games that don’t even have release dates!

take cyberpunk 2077, how many times has it been delayed, yet they don’t have people constantly asking them if there is an update.

To be fair now, it doesn't cost nearly 700 quid.

Do you even understand what a preorder is? Serious question.

You’re buying a slot in a queue. That slot is at the back, not the front. It doesn’t matter how many preorders they sell it simply means that it will take longer for them to fulfil it.

What is so outrageous? If you’ve preordered then you’ll get a card eventually... adding more on to the waiting list isn’t going to affect that.

The alternative is to not allow preorders and you can hope to spot when the cards come in stock, refresh the browser 10182732224 times and not get one.

I’m sure they’ll start communicating more frequently when they know what’s going on. The moderating team has relayed everyone’s concerns and will continue to liaise with the shop but ultimately we just have to wait.[/QUOTE

What are you the pre order police, of course I know what a pre order is thank very much your condescending response is not appreciated. I Ordered my Tuf non OC on launch day, all I ask for is little bit of feedback, now am being told November because of stock issue's. I've paid in full just like everyone else, but to still keep pre orders open is shambolic as the majority of people want some timeframe for current orders.

Does game cost over £700 ? "They" have a right to ask for stock updates ........ isnt that the point of this thread ? If OC had media/community rep that came on here every day and gave us latest update life would be much easier for everybody. Until then let the **** show continue.....

As has already been said, the “in stock” wasn’t accurate, and OCUK knew that and even communicated that it wouldn’t be accurate with the sheer number of people trying to get one.
The in stock wasn’t correct, wasn’t supposed to be displayed. This has already been communicated before, there is no good being salty now.

If you did purchase a card that was showing as in stock and it wasn’t the case, then yeah that is unfortunate and it must suck, but it’s already been said it wasn’t correct. Either cancel the order, or just accept it was a mistake and accept your place in the queue.

yes gibbo told us that there was some stock in, but he also said that there was a tiny amount and that most people wouldn’t receive one, it was pre warning and effectively a lottery.

Yep. I'm not daft. Mine was a commentary of the way the OC has handled this whole thing. They could have won so many points by just being honest and up-front. Instead they've just come across as cynical, disingenuous and greedy. Which, frankly, I'm sure the company is. Not any individual people, but the company's mode of operation.

Nor am I saying that if I ran a it reseller business that I would act any differently...Except, I would act differently, actually. I would have played the "holy crap, what even is going on, look we're all in this together" card. Same end, different means.

They were always going to be able to sell 100% of their stock. My order means nothing to them. But with a little bit of effort, they could have made this fun.

Just a bit sad, really.

To be fair anyone paying 700+ for anything from any company has the right to ask for information regarding their purchase at 3 weeks in to waiting

but with respect and curtesy
As the people selling the cards in this instance are being hammered to death I don’t doubt

I’m gonna have to call them tomorrow as I spoke to someone last week who said he would Come back to me in a days time. Which was a week ago at this point

I get it’s manic for them right now but an agreement is an agreement but I’m not gonna
Jump down their throat for it.

just gotta show some human like behaviour and understanding in these situations.

I think nvidia long took the fun out of it way before any reseller got a chance.

@EVH I understand the moderators here have a job to do, and in some way you have to be on the side of OCUK because it is their forum. I don't for a second envy any of the moderation team for the fallout you are being asked to deal with, honestly.

The trouble is, OCUK aren't doing themselves any favours by saying they will do one thing and then not doing it. They say they will update as shipments happen, or as stock is due / arrives, but the people here have heard nothing, are left with questions and met with silence. I am *still* baffled at why OCUK continues to take orders when almost all other retailers have closed them due to the unprecedented stock issues. The spreadsheet for queue numbers shows that there are at least 8500 orders outstanding and with the rate OCUK seem to be getting stock, we're not talking weeks, we're talking months of those people having each coughed up £649+ to then be met by silence.

I'm not having a go, honestly. Heck, I didn't pre-order a 3080/3090, nor did I want to, but I do understand the frustration.

I'm sorry I can't share ya same thinking pattern there, doesn't matter if its not gibbo job to babysit a launch, if hes doin it then he should be doin it to the best of his abilities. It requires a lot of time a launch of a new product and if he's the guy to give info then doit properly. The competitor have released a chart on card arrivals and dispatches, and a video saying sorry for the long delivery periods at the time of covid and thanks for bearing with em. All we get its Evh, and other like them, spouting stupid cryptic "wait till next week ya might be surprised " comments. Stop sucking ocuk di*k EVH and tells us the info you know when you get it. Its your job to monitor the forum, and its apparent you know some info. And don't talk to us about must be annoying deal with the launch cuz there 2 sides to that coin....and another thing take down that boaring old video on YouTube about doom eternal building a pc not even relevant for Q4 of 2020!!

I am 144th on strix oc. If I ate a pack of Haribos everyday from now until I receive my card, exactly how fat will I be?
Assuming a standard 190g packet of Haribo:
The caloric intake for 100g is ~345 calories (can be a bit more or a bit less depending on the specific type of Haribo used) so a while packet is 655 calories.
For the average person, an Extra kg of weight gain requires an additional 7000 calories on top of your normal daily intake; so, a packet a day for 144 days means 94,320 extra calories, which translates to roughly 13.5 kg of weight gain.
With a lot of assumptions, e.g. no other changes in your diet and no extra physical activity.
In reality the weight gain will be less than that, because the extra weight will require your body to consume more energy to move the extra mass around.

Coherent English please?

No I know and I understand that.

but the concept is still the same.

The concept is the same, but that's about it.

Other retailers are very informative on websites, and engaging through social media.

If other companies can find the time to provide frequent update on stock, why can't OC?

There's an obvious dichotomy between new posters and long-term members, and I think that maybe those more tenured members, have rose-tinted glasses (not speaking about yourself in particular)

People have a right to complain when there's a lot of money involved, so I really can't understand why OC don't look to satiate this.

Have a member of staff provide updates twice a day, and be more specific with stock levels, as 'okay' isn't really measurable.

Something as barebones as 1 - 10, very small, 11 - 20, small etc.

More customer service goes a long way. You can please everyone all the time, but at least make an effort.

Has anyone actually received any tuf oc cards yet? I keep hearing they're getting stock but I guess the stock is 5 cards or less how low I am in the queue and I haven't even got one yet.
