AMD on Oct 28: "the performance you saw on Oct 8 was actually our new APU"

OCUK forum: *crashes*

APU in this giant triple fan card Lisa Su is holding, yep lol

for anyone who thinks the performance shown is some mid range part

We already know the 6900cards use the triple fan cooler and 6800 use the 2 fan cooler. Today Lisa held up the triple fan cooler and said let's show you a terser of its performance - it's so obvious the performance shown was from a RX6900 GPU, the only thing we don't know is if it's the 6900 or 6900xt, that we don't know

I agree with the RTX+DLSS in ampere, but for me turing was a flop not only on price (before the Supers) but it was still to early with lack of games back then.

Of course but it was early adopter tax. We all knew 20xx owners going, in we wouldn't reap the true benefits of RTX/DLSS but were just a stepping stone generation.

Even now, we will only see it trickling through in a few excellently implemented games. For £50-100, I think its worth being able to play the 'superior' higher visual fidelity version of the biggest games. Heck its why I PC game rather than console.

If the quoted benches are from AMD's top range card, fantastic effort from them but I'll go to NVIDIA because put simply, NVIDIA from the relevant benchmarks in Borderlands and GOW are beating AMD.

The borderlands at 61 FPS is a big reminder for me if life with the 2080. Being around or on the borderline of 60fps isn't great. Even the extra 4 or 5FPS makes the difference between a smooth and horrible gameplay experience, and having to fiddle with settings over and over. The GOW one looks like a fairly massive 10fps swing which is sad.

I think the AMD GPU will age better with the VRAM eventually but overall.. meh... I just feel like I won't be keeping either card for more than 24 months anyway.

Source?

How will you target something that didn't even exist at the time of your product launch and you didn't know about at the time when you started to design it several years before then?

When i read your posts i can't help but think that AMD could literally send Lisa Su to your house with a brand new AMD PC free of charge using all of their very best currently unreleased GPU and CPU tech, making you the very first user/owner in the world and you'd still find a way of being down about it...

Stop feeding it. :p

Just worth noting that actually like for like, the 3080 and 6000 series were both around 60fps - the slightly higher one mentioned previously for the 3080 was not in "Badass" quality but just ultra... https://hexus.net/tech/reviews/grap...orce-rtx-3080-founders-edition-ampere/?page=7

lot of backbiting and arguing lol. Getting some full on nerd rage. Can we (pretty please) just stick to some facts and confirmed info, ive just read through about 20-30 pages of BS, posted in the last 24h.

this entire thread for the majority of it is made up on the back of a fag packet before some youtube expert throws up a video confirming it as fact from "sources".

all we know is they have a card that does 4k gaming around 3080 levels or performance. 20 days kiddies and we will know more.

The part about knowing regarding the 2 fan thing is nonsense - we don't know that at all, and in fact it was only a recent video on RGT that suggested the 2 fan might actually not even have made it through to any product.

I personally agree though and highly doubt that they showed us a midrange part, I'm pretty sure they showed us Navi21 it's just a question of whether it was XT XL or XTX. Given they supposedly haven't even shown XTX to AIBs I think there's definitely an argument that they only gave us a tease of XT or XL, but anyone thinking they showed a midrange part is I think a more than just a little optimistic.

The XTX performance monster dream isn't dead just yet, but what we do know pretty much for sure now is they have something that comes within spitting distance of a 3080. Priced right, that alone could be a big disruption.

Now thats not necesarily true is it, as theres a lot of rumors floating around that AMD has ditched the 2 fan coolers.... personally i feel the 2 fan cooler is reserved to the low end and a 1 fan cooler for the extreme low end.. but i expect to see 3 fan on the halo products and the high end below it, so 6800 / 6900 cards, so yeah this could actually have been a 6800... also Scott Herkelman saying "we didnt specify which 6000 series card this is" is basically AMD teasing yet again this is not the full monty.. i definitely do not think its the rumored AIO cooled card but i also dont think its the 6900 air cooled card either, i think its potentially the 6800 due to compete with the 3080, they are reserving a 6900 to beat the 3080 but sit behind the 3090 slightly, and probably a halo 6900 AIO version balls to the wall, that will slightly surpass the 3090.

I honestly believe this year AMD have beaten both Intel and Nvidia, hence why i just dumped 30k on their shares :P

$299 for the lower end 5600X, must perform pretty well for that price. No 5ghz @ stock model yet (still) lol!

19% IPC uplift.

7nm y u disappoint me so :D

At least you're putting your money where your mouth is. I think you're more right than wrong. AMD wouldn't show their full hand before the main event.

IMO once they signed the deal with Sony and Microsoft any chance of a decent APU went peeing in the wind. They will never release anything even close. It would undermine console sales, and I would bet they have signed all sorts of contracts any way.

Wow the amount of cope on display in this thread from NVIDIA fanboys is almost at critical level.

There will be a +35% gap between the 3070 and 3080. AMD just showed benches where a GPU is on par with the 3080, and you're hear trying to spin it was a negative and claim youre Nostradamus.

And the data is bad.. just pure propaganda..
you just got to be extra careful about rational behaviour with these folks

Lol at Grim :D

AMD are not going to put their fastest card up there for all to see, they are not stupid, this will be a mid level card, not the XTX.

This is a juicy one. Looks like Humbug is chuck more coal into the fire. Full steam ahead. The hype train is about to take off!

Yep, all we need is prices + availability then you can make your own decisions. :)

Sorry, lol!:D I just don't understand the negativity.
He has always been like that, negative about everything. Most just ignore him these days. He calls people trolls, but does not realise he is probably one the biggest ones here himself. Lol
