*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

You know... OCUK is behaving like a company that is going to fold and take all of our money with them.

I just don't see this. They've always taken money upfront in this way, it's just a rubbish policy they have.

Tech companies are doing well out of all the recent shenanigans, lots of people stuck at home needing computers or components.

Thats actually a very childish way to act. not to mention being against that sites policies. How would you feel if somebody came to your work and made it almost impossible for you to do your job whilst bragging about it to others.

Dont forget these guys are not doing anything wrong (just immoral in some/most eyes). They've had to jump through the same hoops. People like you inflating prices are making genuine bidders pay more. These "scalpers" have beaten us to these cards fair and square. None of them i've seen are listing 10s of stock. just the odd card here and there. If they choose to make a few quid rather than enjoying their card then why not?

A few people have pre-ordered from multiple places in order to try and get a card fairly quickly. With places like OC refusing to refund postage and some charging restocking, at some point you could be in the same position just trying to move a card on without loss because you end up with 2 or more. I'm pretty sure i will be. If i get one quicker elsewhere i may stay in this queue simply for the watchdogs code and then i'll have an extra card aswell.

Im with you on that one. and hopefully if they've come up with the issues early then be plain sailing when they do finally turn up in their 100's (here's hoping) :D
Oh COME ON. You have got to be kidding with this post. Scalping is making this whole situation worse for everybody. Good on those ruining the auctions, keep it up. Ebay are trash for being a part of it. Props to OC for cancelling these morons' orders as well.

Every single one Ive done it to has just been selling their place in a preorder queue, I have no problem doing it whatsoever. No problem about people selling surplus cards in their physical possession at cost (or even slightly more), but people are charging 2 times the price for a card they don't even have, and it's exploitative. I couldn't care less that people like that have their time wasted and I am happy to do it

To say I and people like me are the ones causing genuine bidders to pay more is ridiculous, when it's the sellers putting out ridiculous BIN figures, and people impatient and naive enough to pay those silly prices. I mean there is a genuine difference between an eBay storefront genuinely trying to sell cards as a business and some utter chancer trying to sell what is essentially a queue position because they realised it can pay for a 3090 instead.

Doing their job :D give me a break. Actually such a ridiculous take on things that it makes me wonder if you're one of them

I'd doubt it. Their profit was pretty decent as of their last accounts (just over £2M year ending Apr 2019). OCUK has always taken full payment up front regardless of how much of a deficit there is in their stock. I don't agree with it, but I'm not running the company so all I can do is talk with my wallet. As I said previously, I'm not in this whole 3080 mess, but I was going to order a 5900X from them as I bought my current 3700X build here. Now that purchase will be elsewhere based on how they've handled this.

I’m going to write to OC.co.uk’s Managing director about this debacle. It’s a total farce and if he’s not careful the wave of poor reviews will end the company.

Let's be honest, this won't end the company at all. And you writing to the managing director will do bugger all apart from impact the environment with the paper you're wasting.

I agree, if those peeps selling on ebay don't want them then give them back to the company for real people that do want them. Just purchasing to double your profit is scummy, especially when most of them don't have the cards at all yet

I am proper kicking myself for not having more storefronts open on launchday, was just blind with my loyalty to OC, for some reason didn't even thinkg about spreading the net. OCs approach to this has really soured things I think - I am not necessarily in a rush for my card, and in the original thread I was one of the ones defending the scenario - whats the point in updating people to say no news, they're obviously at the behest of distributors, etc, etc. I just put it down to people being impatient and annoyed (justifiably), but that there wasn't necessarily some insidious conspiracy or whatever at play.

As time as gone on though, it's hard not to feel a little more empathy with people getting frustrated...OC really comes off like it doesn't care, and it's clear there is a lack of Customer Service training going by mixed experiences and how things are handled. Lack of transparency, people getting conflicting information, a general 'what can we do??' attitude, inconsistency in customer requests, etc. I don't think any of those things are a huge dealbreaker when you're talking about a wait of a few weeks, but as it becomes more and more apparent that we may be talking months, a combination of those things really starts to grate when it honestly doesn't feel like OC have done much to mend the bridge with customers beyond very generic messaging and shrugging their shoulders

Don't be. I had competitors open too but had no luck. Everyones site was crashing, i got 2 or 3 in my checkout (1 each time seperately) at the main competitor but their site was crashing worse than OC's and it got removed from my cart and also when i got through to delivery and payment it crashed and didnt load delivery options. Launch was generally a shambles and only bots or people with 100GB internet or pure luck succeeded in the early window, a lot of us got the short end of the stick.

Haha cheers man, hard not to just infinitely second-guess yourself. With hindsight I'll convince myself I should have just gotten some other model, when the whole point was that I wanted an MSRP card, cos the performance/cost ratio was the main draw for me

Some fair points but I don't feel the same. I ordered on the basis the cards were not on the shelves and it would be a first come, first served for dispatch. This was clear so I haven't got any gripes. I do agree that spreading the net more widely, and across brands would have paid off.

If you have already received a 3080 from ocuk and have not received a watchdog code then you won't be getting one.

These codes only went to the first 1000 pre orders.
I got a email confirming a code was allocated to my order and assured me I'd be getting one. I haven't got my card yet. I'm 10th in line for a TUF OC. I would hope they won't be going back on that. Both my order shows I have one. And Like I said I got a email confirming. I find it hard to believe people who already got their card and no code but I would.
What do you think. If after both my order on website and email both confirm the watch dogs legion and GFN codes. And like I said the CS guy confirmed I have one allocated to me. If I then didn't get one. That would be very bad on OCUK side.
Also I doubt they have shipped 1000 cards no where near.

Scalpers used bots, and some of them can’t sell more than 1 at a time because there isn’t that much supply to go around in the first place, but they would if they could get their hands on more than 1.

That was the MSI trio with the 18th date! I picked this car myself thinking they would have it the following day.

It shouldn't have had the 18th as ETA as it was a bit misleading to think you would get it fairly quickly. That message should have gone from the website as soon as the first 5 orders were taken.

Yeah that is how I felt until this week really - as I say, I am not impatient (although when I ordered the Eagle said they were getting stock in that week, which definitely did inform my decision), so I figured Id have some wait, but at that stage none of us knew just how insanely small the stock was, so whislt I went into it thinking there would be a wait, I don't necessarily agree that it was clear that we'd be waiting potentially months for that order to be fulfilled (I did not actively browse the forum, despite registering quite some time ago).

As a transaction, it doesn't really bother me that I am having to wait - I currently have a 1080ti, and bought the card for Cyberpunk...and even if it arrives slightly after that, I have enough perspective where waiting for my enthusiast PC hardware to turn up is the ultimate first world problem, especially against the backdrop of 2020 - so as a general 'You ordered this in demand item and have to wait for it' transaction, I am not that fussed.

The only bit that has soured me over time is the lack of transparency and communication when it comes to reassuring customers - as I say, I agree with the 'these are not in stock yet, and its first come first serve', but I disagree that how severe that situation was in reality was all that clear

I would love some Strix OC 3080 news as Gibbo said on release that they were expecting them 2 weeks or so after

and ASUS on Facebook said they are sending stock to OCUK a lot but no word from OCUK
