The law of diminishing (cost/benefit) returns mate... same with all tech and has been since the dawn of time.

(Please note, I have a 3090 GPU on order :D)

Hahaha, I don't think I will be swayed by the extra 100mhz :D for about £200 more. Saying that the I9-10900k is £550 and I am guessing that the 5950x is supposed to be better than that cpu. I don't think there will be much difference worth that much money for performance when it comes to gaming between the 5900x and 5950x.

16c/32t vs 12c/24t :D

For someone who have missed out a lot of the talk about how good the new AMD CPU's will be, do you have a comparrison for me where I could compare my current i7-6700K with the new Ryzen 5900X?

New video from MLID... saying that basically:
  • Zen3 is not overpriced for the performance you get... it has the best gaming and multi-threaded performance.
  • It is decent value especially vs available and upcoming Intel CPU's for the next 12 or so months.
  • If you really want good value then buy a Zen2.
As always, take it with a pinch of salt. :)

You can find the specific comparison here http://www.thezen3isnotevenoutyetnumbnutssohowcanyoucompareittoa6700k.com/

I'm fairly new to this so this is a genuine question, but why is MLID so maligned?

My view is that it's primarily because of the way he presents his views. He is very arrogant, conceited and can also be dismissive of the viewership and unfortunately that does detract from his videos. Of course he also isn't always right, but that should be expected from any leaker... it's not an exact science.

Insightful post on Anandtech forums:

I made a performance projection for Zen3 based Ryzens and charted it on computerbase graphs (single core, multicore and gaming fps @ 1080p ). I expect ~+-2% deviation from these numbers. I used AMD's claims from their presentation and crosschecked them versus both old gen Ryzen 3000 and intel 10X00 parts, it almost perfectly matches with computer base numbers. I also managed to confirm that 3900X(T) performance from AMD's materials matches almost perfectly the 3900X(T) performance in computerbase reviews. Enjoy

Basically the numbers AMD gives in their CPU launch presentations for Ryzen have been very accurate. So the huge gains claimed over Ryzen 3000 or comparative to the 10900K will play out exactly the same in comprehensive independent reviews like ComputerBase's.

New architecture just around the corner, you don't think they'll hit that?

Intel wont compete until maybe 2022 but then amd has next gen ryzen so it seems Intel is the catch up maybe a few years and its a big maybe as die shrinks is ending.

Fastest in the world, so go figure

Interesting think I will stick with my 7700k for a while yet

slow and done.
