5600x is amazing.. Because all of them do 4,7 all Core with like 1,2V to 1,23v.. you don´t even lose Boost Clock speeds, Because the stock boost clock is 4,7Ghz. The other models.. have higher Boost clock.. and don´t do ALL core equal to the stock boost clock, so you have to choose and in some metric you can lose something.

From what I've seen so far, with the 5900x and 5950x all core 4.7ghz = 1-3% lower gaming performance and all core 4.8ghz = no loss of gaming performance and in some cases even faster than stock
those CPU´s only with the new Asus feature on the new motherboard are worth overclocking. It allows you to set all core overclock maintaining the boost also.
5600x is always worth overclocking at least this first batch of them.
Yup, it's a very worrying trend.
I am really tempted to switch to a 5600x... it's amazing for gaming, as fast as the 5900x, and also powerful enough to do all of my non-professional productivity stuff perfectly fine.
EDIT - Screw it, 5900x cancelled and 5600x ordered for 18th November. I imagine there will be a Zen3 refresh at some point on AM4 due to the size of the userbase so I will be fine for a year or two until prices of higher-end CPU's come down and I will put the money that would have gone towards a 5900x towards a 6800XT instead.

You don´t need to Upgrade later on.. it´s not worth it.. at least for Gaming and non-professional productivity. Late 2021... Zen4 is out... with new socket and ddr5.. At that point you can choose to change platform... or buy in the used market a 5900x for cheap.
I am likely not going to change platform when Zen4 is released as it will not be worthwhile until at least it's a year into its lifecycle when the platform is more mature and hardware is more available at reasonable costs. AM5 motherboards will be hugely expensive, as will DDR5 RAM etc. Early adoption of brand new CPU platforms that require a complete change of components is rarely a sensible idea if you already have a powerful rig.
Zen3 and AM4 is imo all that is needed for the next 3+ years, with only the GPU upgrades providing a real benefit for 4k gaming. Upgrading the 5600x to whatever is the fastest Zen3 available in 2 years will be my strategy.
Plus, in 2023 and beyond Intel will very likely be back with a vengeance so who knows what the landscape will look like.
yes.. i was just saying that because with the new platform.. the used market is going to be full of last gen parts.. with good deals(Cpus, Board, RAM DDR4). It´s always like that... and there are always crazy people who doesn´t care about losing a a lot of money just to sell fast. For exemple when people were changing to zen 2... i bought a B450 Board and a ryzen 2600x for 90€, when was still worth at least like 170€.

I dont overclock my components, is there much improvement for gaming ? im thinking on a new CPU, but i feel going now would be a bit of a waste as bought a ryzen 3900x in march and a 2080 super GPU, if i wanted more performance would a new graphics card be the way to go ? computer is only used for general web browsing, youtube etc and mainly a gaming machine
If you already have a 3900x then a new GPU of Nvidia 3080/AMD 6800 level or above will provide a way bigger boost than a Zen3.
The highest gaming performance will be seen on combos Ryzen 5000 and Radeon RX 6800 / RX 6800 XT / Radeon RX 6900 XT because of AMD Smart Access Memory and AMD Rage mode.

It’s a pretty old game, I’m sure it will be fine. Most games a GPU bound anyway in the real world so most of the benchmarks I have seen are pointless because no one runs 1080P medium with a 3090. Hell no one should be running a 3090, save your money for next gen!

For someone who isn't completely clued in on all this technical stuff, does anyone know how big difference will be between 3200mhz and 3600mhz memory sticks for the new Ryzen?
One thing I am really impressed by is Overwatch on these CPU. With the 3600 in Overwatch it was really hard to keep above 240 fps at the competitve settings especially on some maps. Now the 5600x isn't dipping below 350 fps even on the worst case map... a 100+ fps improvement.

Midday on the 5th I checked the prices of 3800XT / 3900X / 5800X / 5900X - and bought a 3800XT for £327 with a Farcry6 code.
The 5800X is just badly priced at £420, and the 20% perf uplift not justifying the extra £90 in cost.
Gaming is very GPU bottlenecked at high resolutions:

I'm happy to discount the price of my 3800XT by £40 for Farcry6 (having played through Farcry5 twice - and playing Farcry New Dawn now), and I game on a 38WN95-C so a 5xxxX just didn't make sense.

What is your PC setup like and what settings in Overwatch?
I was running 4690k and 2080 with literally everything on "low" in Overwatch and was averaging about 200fps.
This week I'm completing my build with a 5600x and a 3070 (arriving in 30 mins
).You reckon it'll push over 350fps like yours?
Not easy to explain because that's not really the only thing which matters. If you have Memory with a higher frequency but with much higher timings as well.. the trade of could mean performance penalties.
