That is why I asked what is the RRP as I assumed the price went up due to exchange rate or something as usually when an e tailer displays and item cheaper that is out of stock when it comes back into stock usually the price goes skyward. If the price is £749.99 then I will wait as I am not going to pay a premium to buy this processor at an inflated price just because the retailer decides to do a bit of scalping themselves so I take my money elsewhere.

I think with ryzen overclocking can be detrimental to CPU life, lots of info about ryzen degrading with high voltages in a short time even if cooled properly. plenty to read about it, google is your friend.
Coming from an intel system where all core 5ghz was easy at 1.275v i see 1.4v plus going into some ryzen overclocks. this is ok of course for utubers and all that get promotions and most likely free sample chips. but average joe cant keep replacing a £750 CPU every 6 months.
I will run my 5950x at stock untill i see some evidence they dont degrade like the predecessors did. after all the 5950x should be fast enough stock for now at least.

the joke and bull***t about exchange rates isn’t working anymore. And only worked one way... upwards and never ever prices were adjusted down when rates where favourable. The price is locked at the time of purchase
I think the problem here is the fact you can moan all you like but at the end of the day they are making money and that is what all this is about, they do not care who buys the stock as long as it goes out the door but this company is not mad either as they are smart as they are technically scalping themselves so they get all that cake to themselves now they aren’t true scalpers in the fullest sense of the word as if they were they would be selling the 5950 @ £949 they are fair they are only charging £859.

Overclocking on Ryzen has been pretty much pointless ever since PBO/XFR introduction. Those who are running overclocks are not gaining anything magical in performance. I always leave all of my Ryzen CPUs on XFR and I'm happy with it. What I actually overclock/tune is RAM. That's where you gain more performance than clocking your CPU to its limits

Have you tried running at 1.375v setting the voltage manual and seeing if it stays stable? what is the recommended voltage for ryzen 5950x here we have an overclocked 5950x at 1.360v https://www.guru3d.com/index.php?ct=articles&action=file&id=65463

Nah not messed with it at all like I said. Never felt the need to as the 5950x boosts up to 4.6-4.8ghz out of the box by itself on multiple cores (eg. playing Watch Dogs Legion I can see at least 6 cores at this clock speed all at the same time) so setting an all core overclock when I am mostly gaming seems counter intuitive.
I trust the Aorus Master mobo default settings on latest bios isn't going to fry my CPU.
When doing all core workload like cinebench r20 the voltage goes at a very sensible 1-1.05v lol
Thinking about this preorder thing, there's no rush for companies to even get stock if they have taken peoples money.
Only when people cancel orders will they suddenly want stock again to be able to sell. If they have money off someone already, why bother rushing to fulfil the order at all??

the whole pre order thing doesn't sit well with me, as no rush to re stock. only sell what stock you have is an incentive to re stock good selling item's and more likely more effort will be put in to obtain stock. always hated the pay for it, then be told waiting for stock. pre orders take away the need for etailers to risk there own cash on stock, they use yours on pre orders.

I would still try a manual voltage of say 1.375v and see if it boosts the same, one thing for sure it would run cooler and might even boost more.
It's a service. OCUK offer a click and forget service so you don't have to check in with a dozen different retailers every day. Just order and pay once, and forget about it until it turns up.
The alternative is a lot of leg work trying to track one down as they enter the country only to be snapped up fast.

Or you get stuck in a long que for pre orders while others obtain stock with a little leg work and cheaper, if all pre orders were at RRP then fair enough and you don't mind waiting ages, but they are not and stock isn't exactly jumping through the door.

if preorders where at RRP it would have been fine and you could even call it a “service”, now however this isn’t the case
The leg work isn't 'a lot'. It's as hard as receive discord/twitter/telegram notification to phone, click link, order, receive way earlier than a standing pre-order. Spending £110 to avoid doing this seems irresponsible.

Sitting on well over a million I reckon - more come Wednesday I guess.
The place I bought it from offers 3 year warranty with the bundle as well, so I'm fine with that.
