The thread which sometimes talks about RDNA2

Can you blame AMD to much. PC gamers gave AMD the middle finger while Sony and Microsoft helped them through the tough moments.

Still I wanted a 6800xt this side of Christmas but will be waiting until next year when hopefully there is stock and half decent pricing. I also got a decent beer pump so it's not all bad news lol
All it does is instill my thoughts that we are just paying customers and neither have any care for us. I am also pretty sure I will be going for a 6800XT now and will probs be in January (stock availability of course).

I really think AMD have done a fantastic job with the 6 series cards, style wise they are probably the best looking reference cards I have seen but thats just my opinion.

Watch the HU video and steve said that AMD told him they will have AIB at MSRP in around 4-8 weeks. That's around 40 days that I gueesed at before...ROFL
That's why I said I would just wait it out.

Ampere released on Sept. 17, 2020 and it's be about 73 days since released. About 2 months and even Steve admits there has been no signs of improvement in stock for Ampere.

IMO, AMD should put more priority of RDNA2 over Zen 3 since Intel won't have anything anytime soon.
The same channel which said AIB availability will be high on launch day. Yeah, good luck with that.

I wouldn’t put much stock into what AMD says. For one, they have already lied to us about good launch day stocks. Secondly, NVIDIA also talked about ramping up stocks in October and nothing happened. Thirdly, what do you think they would have told him? That it would take 4 months for availability? Of course they would say that.

It makes sense for AMD to launch new GPU's even if they make more money from CPU's. The consoles also need GPU's, then there is the mobile market and the APU's. So AMD will do R&D anyway. Plus most of the time you can only sell a certain number of CPU's and you don't have a new console launching every year. They have problems now because they need to make a huge number of chips for consoles. But what will they do in 6 months or a year if they don`t play in the GPU market?
Meanwhile Nvidia...

You need to keep an eye on the owners threads for example there are almost as many 3090 owners as there were 2080 Ti owners which is not bad going for a £1500 card that has only been available for a couple of months.

ATM there are a lot of cards being sold but demand seems to be huge hence the waiting times.

Yes I saw that it is a surprise there are so many peeps willing to spend that level of money for something that is only slightly faster than the GPUs below it. But these are unprecedented times so maybe it’s not that surprising after all.

Also the 3080 supply issues may have forced the hand of some buyers who were initially on the fence and they've gone for the 3090 instead (as supply seems to be better slightly on those).

The 3090s have been in stock for few weeks now. I imagine some people are now just buying them because they are available instead of waiting 1000 in a queue.

The problem with the ones in stock is they are carrying a very heavy price tag compared to the FE ones.

If there were Asus Strix cards in stock at that price it would be more reasonable.

Also I am absolutely disgusted with EVGA who are prioritising North America at the expense of everyone else.

EVGA can put their 3090 Kingpin where the sun don't shine as it is going to be obsolete very shortly when the 7nm Ampere cards arrive.

That is probably true - but a different story to nVidia selling massive amounts of Ampere directly to miners.

I know there have been a few reports of corruption with the supply chain in some parts of the world - Russia and parts of Asia, etc.

Yeah I dont believe the tubers knee-jerk story is that finite. It would just mean an extra 10% of the supply being hoovered up at a time where people have eyes on the chain. Tubers put 2+2 and got 5.

I agree both manufacturers are as bad as each other. Promised stock and tried to do politician answers about it instead of being straight up. Just have to roll with the punches and take the body blow now or wait patiently for a better price later.

I think it is just the lighting in the pics.

Ok, the grey looks black and the silver looks grey, it makes the chrome fan branding and surround chamfering "pop" as the Americans would say.

They don't look quite like this IRL but if they made it mat black with grey, make them look more like they do in this light they would look better than they currently do.

A "Dark Theme"

There are some gamers who also mine.. so its difficult to make a clear distinction anyways.
But nvidia sucked at launch so did amd. I just feel burnt out sticking out so long, if all i had to do was order a 3090 at launch.. bad taste. Hopefully, a new competitor will emerge to cater to the market of disenchanted PC Gamers. I want to see both of them begging for DIY revenues atleast once in my lifetime and have a good laugh about it.. thats another tantrum from my side.

I don't have much to add other than Consoles and PC gaming is in structural YOY revenue decline and has been for 20 years. Mobile gaming and cloud is where the explosive growth is and i feel that's the priority for the wafers. wafers for mining is just a temporary side-story.

If people want to know where our CPU/GPU wafers went, they went into datacentre's and mobile devices, not Chinese miners, consoles or Jimmy Chancer scalping for fleabay.

A third player like Intel will only copy the market trends.

3080 supply issues are intentional. They are shifting the 3080 to GA103 so that 3080 Ti gets all the GA102 when it launches in January. Not only does it lower costs for NVIDIA, some frustrated buyers are also migrating to 3090 in the meantime further increasing NVIDIA’s profit margins. IMHO, the high supply of 3090 and low supply of 3080 is a trap by NVIDIA as the 3080 Ti is on the way with the best of both the worlds.
