After seeing Cyberpunk on Xbox One X and Xbox Series S, you can say it's 100% worth upgrading to the Xbox Series S. The newer Ryzen CPU, memory and SSD, are far more of an upgrade than the slightley less GPU Grunt. I think the more modern GPU architecture outpeforms the older higher TF GPU as well. The faster memory and CPU enable it to do more.

The real problem is finding a next gen console to buy...

The Series S GPU is almost identical in performance to the One X, but it can’t run the One X 4K enhancements due to the lack of RAM.

Series S coming today. I remember there being some discussion earlier in the thread about some Enhanced titles being able to run off an external hard drive. Is there a list of these anywhere? Or is it trial and error?

I’d really like a list! Halo does, I think I read that Ori does. Not sure about others.

Just set your external as the default install location and anything that needs the internal drive will be installed there automatically.

All games running on the old SDK will run from an external drive, so any game that doesn’t have a completely separate One and Series software version will work.

Thank's but both one X and ps4 pro are missing in that, I guess they dont have those two consoles, but the devs of this game should be embarrassed about the one S version, just reduce the visuals so it can sustain 30fps and also the series X performance mode framerate is too variable. Thats the issue with triple AAA dev's, they can get obsessed with making things look pretty.

One X didn't get much attention, but it was there.

Not the best of comparisons really; they spent too much time laughing at the One S and PS4 versions. It would have been way more interesting to see what the improvement was from One X to Series X, PS4 Pro to PS5, and how the Series S version holds up against One X and Series X.

Found it, it was basically 5 seconds of the video O_o. So yeah similar visuals to one S and slower performance, not unexpected as it is previous gen tech.

It doesnt bode well for the supposed next gen versions of the game as the S isnt a flat 30 framerate so probably doesnt have any room for enhancement, and the X isnt pegging its frame target either.

For me its not fully automatic, when I installed a X/S enhanced game yesterday, it gave me a prompt informing me it will only run on internal and then I had a choice of where to put it. But yeah you will be informed when you download games that cant run on external, which is good enough.

No. Way. I did not know this. That makes it easier.

There is a little pop up stating that this needs to be installed on the internal drive when you try to install something to a default external drive.

Just tap A and it goes to the internal. This only causes an issue with remote install, if your external drive is full it just says nope.

Seems like Very have some of the S in stock.

A part of me wants to get it because it's available and the other part of me wants to hold off for an X :p

You're exactly the same as me. Every time I see the S come in to stock on Microsoft Store, I add it to my basket and then sit and wait with my brain tearing itself apart weighing up whether to proceed with checkout or wait for the X. I think the X is due in next week...

I think my sensible head will win. The most annoying part was i had the X with Legion in my basket earlier in the week and then has the same internal debate for too long and missed out :(

I had an S pre-order with Amazon, which I cancelled.

I then added the S to my basket on MS Store on Monday before changing my mind.

Did the same again on Tuesday, but this time I caved :p Based on first impressions, I don't regret it at all. It's a huge QOL improvement over Xbox One. The controller is better. The UI is no longer sluggish. Games load faster.

If it was my main or sole gaming platform, I think I may regret not stumping up for the Series X. But for now, it isn't. It's for Game Pass. If I want to see Cyberpunk in all its glory, I'll get it on PC.

Definitely wait for the X. You will only regret it and end up upgrading to an X at some point anyway.

I am not regretting it. For the games I play the S is more then adequate, and I appreciate the extra £200 in my pocket.

I am kind of in same situation as McPhee, for games where I do want the luxury visuals, the PC is my platform for that.

Well that was more aimed at those who can't decide. That tells me that they will likely regret it in the long run.

If you made a conscious decision to definitely just go with the series S than that is different.

Yeah I get what you saying about the been on the fence thing, I wasnt thinking of it that way. As you said I was all in on the S from the go.

Yeh, there is definitely some good reasons to save money and go with the S, as you pointed out.

I think if someone is thinking about the console becoming their main long term games machine, it is probably best to go straight in with the X.
