Wow, Nvidia have banned Hardware Unboxed from receiving review samples...

Coercion??? help ma bob its straight up bullying.

Thing is this time Nvidia have tackled the wrong channel, other will rally round them and there will be a smear of brown on NVidias rep for the end of this year.

No I'm not missing the point - my point is simple - they are not being *silenced*, Nvidia can't stop them reviewing their cards any more than Ford can stop me reviewing one of their cars.

And on that point you are also completely wrong. And I know that you know it, just arguing for the sake of arguing.

When a product like this launches there is a small window of opportunity where a reviewer can release a review for it to have any relevance whatsoever. HU are not likely to get a review sample through retail channels anywhere close to launch, and even if they did they'd still be days later than their competition before they're able release a review.

Your argument is nvidia are not standing behind their backs tying gags around their faces, physically "silencing" them.

Everyone elses' argument is that the end result is the same, and that you are being obtuse and pedantic.

I think the point you might be missing here is HU will not be affected by this as you rightly say, they can buy anything they want within reason and review it. What about the smaller youtubers just getting going that can't afford to buy the latest and greatest to review and would rely on the likes of Nvidia, AMD and lets not forget Intel. to provide review samples. they would be directly affected by this, so would/could/might have to tow the line and end up giving a skewed review for any and all products.
And at its basic level its as form of itimidation, nothing more nothing less.
I'm not missing any point. These people are influencers - receiving preferential treatment from a supplier to review their product in the hope of a good review. Not a single company is duty bound to do this and if they feel their product is being treated unfairly why shouldn't they be able to revoke that privilege?

Nvidia are trying to control what people say about their cards, you can't have independent reviews of Nvidia cards while they are controlling the narrative, Nvidia are too narcissistic to realise behaviour like this puts a question mark over all those reviewing their cards.

Look at JayZ2Cents RX 6900XT review and compare it to the 6800XT review.

Nvidia are the victim now? How, How are Nvidia being treated unfairly?

So tell me what makes HU more special than any of the other channels out there that don't receive pre-release FOC samples? The hand giveth and the hand taketh away.

You're still missing the point, Nvidia didn't just decide they didn't want to give them review samples anymore, they did it to try to bully them into following Nvidia's editorial line, with that they are no longer an independent reviewer, they would be a marketing arm for Nvidia mascaraing as an independent reviewer.

That in its self is fine, but then Hardware Unboxed would have to change their channel accordingly to one that is clearly an Nvidia advertising outfit.

try reading before replying "if they feel their product is being treated unfairly" . Notice how I didn't claim that it IS being treated unfairly.

I read it, again tell me how Nvidia was treated unfairly, you're the one defending them. why?

I'd say its a bit stronger than coercion

I don't think its as far as blackmail

Like I said earlier in this thread, although we will never know, I have a gut feeling Jay had a nice chat with a Nvidia rep about his review of the the 6800xt. The difference in the videos is too great, theres a complete tonal shift between the two and its from the first few seconds that its noticeable

oh bless you.
You realise even if you do not specifically type something there is a tone that comes through your posts right?
Oh right, no facts then, just how you choose to read the tone in your head. I'll make it quite clear - I have no clue nor do I care if Nvidia have, haven't or feel they have or haven't been treated fairly or unfairly. They are welcome to run their business as they see fit including coming off as childish by revoking influencers special privileges.
