Wow, Nvidia have banned Hardware Unboxed from receiving review samples...

see no one is actually pointing me to these videos but keeps getting mentioned in posts. iv just checked hardware unboxed channel and can see the latest video they have is a rtx one on cyberpunk from yesterday. so i can only assume from that they are now doing raytracing reviews.

So you only have a passing interest in RT and these latest gen cards, don't look up videos yourself, yet feel like its good to tell people you know better? Hmm...

odd those reaction videos seems to kind of isolate it to a specific thing in a specific video nvidia are not happy with.

The specific thing was them not towing the line over ray tracing. That much has been made obvious with the videos criticizing nvidia and nvidia's initial letter with that being a focal point.

iv no told anyone that i know better. just that i can see things from both sides and not just from the reviewers.
if you want to see a brutal review conclusion check 7mins into this one:

Oh wait, we got a social justice warrior here /rolleyes. Seriously mav, get over it. You literally dont have a damn clue, are asking for videos and say you have to "see what its all about". Good god.

And again mav, it has been pointed out time after time after time that RT is covered, and is indeed covered by Hardware Unboxed themselves. Open your ears dude.

if its covered then why did nvidia complain about it? as mentioned by Grim5 35 minute video and 20 seconds worth of RT discussion. and you call that covered?

Nah that's not what Nvidia is complaining about - it's hardware unboxed's main GPU review videos

For example their initial FE 3080 review that I've included below. It's a 35 minute video where they test a couple dozen games and go into a lot of depth - however about 20 seconds of those 35 minutes is dedicated to discussing Ray Tracing and DLSS, that's what Nvidia is mad about.

And then again in the 6800xt/6900xt review they dedicated about 30 seconds to Ray Tracing and didn't much effort into comparing AMD and Nvidia cards.

So essentially, Nvidia is saying for them RT is a big feature of their GPU with a significant part of the die allocated to RT and Tensor cores - but hardware unboxed dedicates 1.2% of the reviews to showing RT and DLSS.

The 3080 and 3090 review came out 3 months ago. I know companies move slow but if they were actually upset about those videos they would have told them back in October early November. Yet they still sent them a 3070 and 3060ti (A.K.A the main cash cows of the 3000 series) to review. If they actually had a problem with the review they wouldn't have sent them those cards because why would Nvidia want HUB to make their cash cows look bad.

What most likely happened is that they are not happy with the RDNA 2 review and HUB not stressing Nvidias RT advantage in those reviews.

Are you deliberately trying to be thick? They had a second 22 minute video showcasing rtx and dlss. How many times do you need to be told this?

mav they even mentioned in the video you were referring to that they would be doing a separate video focusing only on the RT perf of the cards. which they did.

thats why im now wondering why nvidia sent that email since hardware unboxed did do the followup video on RT. maybe they didnt see that 2nd video?

this could well be it but i doubt we will ever know for a fact

wrong again, the 3080 separate video was 2 months ago. The email was about 2 days ago.

The newest RT video for cyberpunk has nothing to do with the discussion here because it's not a 3080 review video.
