Radeon 6900 XT

Evolution of the OCUK forum:

2011 - I don’t know if my 1500w Strider is gonna make it guys, i am pulling 1250 from the wall with my four gpus running. They cost £350 each, so i don’t mind if they blow tho LOL!

2020 - Don’t like the look of that £1,250 GPU i might need to upgrade to a whole 1KW psu.

"2020 - where can I buy a GPU and CPU for MSRP and when?"

There fixed it for you

you missed 2015 - I tossed the 1500w in the bin and replaced it with 400w, man Pascal is so efficient lol

Some 6900XT clock speeds have come in from Asus, XFX, Asrock, Powercolor and Gigabyte:

Asus Strix LC: OC Mode: Not yet listed Gaming mode : up to 2365 MHz (Boost Clock)/ 2135 MHz (Game Clock) - 5mhz quicker than the Asus Strix LC 6800XT
Asus TUF: OC Mode : up to 2340 MHz (Boost Clock)/ 2105 MHz (Game Clock). Gaming mode : up to 2310 MHz (Boost Clock)/ 2075 MHz (Game Clock)
XFX Merc: 2340 MHz (Boost Clock). 2105 MHz (Game Clock)
Asrock Taichi: 2340 MHz (Boost Clock). 2105 MHz (Game Clock)
Powercolor Red Devil: 2340MHz(Boost). 2105MHz(Game Clock)
Gigabyte Auros Master: TBC
Sapphire Nitro+ OC: TBC.

Based on the above i would wager that Gigabyte and Sapphire will go for 2340mhz.

The differentiation therefore will be sustained clocks between the different boards and how the power-delivery and binning keeps a card under boost for the longest.

There is no reason to believe at this stage that the Asus Strix LC can't reach 2750mhz.

From the limited evidence so far (we need more OCUK forum members to have the cards) top tier seems to be approx 2750 sustained boost under load.

I would expect some of us will have to quietly go through six cards and then lie about winning the silicon lottery in the Timespy thread :D

My reference 6900xt in Cyberpunk was sitting at default boost around 2400Mhz out box with it on 250w, with it changed to allow the full 300w then it raised to all of 2450Mhz there. I haven't played since as it was in housemates PC just to test/check. Waterblock will arrive tomorrow though so by end of week it should be under water and time to really give it some time to see what can do.

Very interested in this result please keep us posted, and some pics.

Oh that error, yeah I had it at the time as well.

Got mine from somewhere else yesterday actually. Wasn't even planning to get a 6900 XT, all I wanted was a 6800 XT but got fed up waiting and the opportunity presented itself so...

Yeah add the cost of a 1000w psu to the likely £1200+ purchase price and I would be more inclined to get a 3090FE for the extra features?

They both suck down hell of a lot of power, the 3090 MORE than the 6900XT, so your math doesn't add up well here.

Would love to see the 6900xt water devil clocks :p:p:p

If you read back through the thread this comment was specifically aimed at the new Powercolor Red Devil which lists a minimum system power requirement as 900W whereas the 3090 lists a minimum as 750W. A lot of people will not have a 1000W power supply so would have to invest in that as well.

However the general consensus was that the 6900XT Red Devil will probably run fine on a good quality 750W PSU and almost certainly fine on an 850W so no need to upgrade unless your current PSU is struggling.
