30xx Series Founders Edition

It has been very tempting to cave in to the 3090, those of us in tech are mostly sat here working from home with money we can't spend so it's not an affordability question. I just feel like I'd be contributing to normalising 1400 pound GPUs :P

Not going to make the same mistake with the next 3080 drop and accidentally use the wrong card details.....

Exactly that ^ except in them pictures it looks like ASICs and not GPU's installed in the units. And people on here complaining about one guy with his 30 series GPU 'mining' lol.

Can't believe it. My replace 3070 FE arrived today and it has the exact same issue. (Sound of hiss from last time)

At this point I can only conclude there's an issue with this batch of graphics cards to the retailer.

Consider me completely alienated from Nvidia Founders Editions at this point; I might as well buy a scalped 3070 and sell this on.

(Or ofcourse, I'd be open to simply replacing the fan when third party options become available).

I really hope NV decides to produce mining GPUs in large quantities, that should help everyone if they can arrange a separate production deal from TSMC or maybe samsung.

I think there's an arguement for AMD and NV to produce mining GPUs all year round, if it helps to keep prices affordable for gamers.

I always wanted a 3080FE, and having spent £200 over RRP for a gigabyte vision 3080 OC, finding out it has bad/poor VRM cooling (especially during mining) I don't know which manufacturer can be trusted anymore.

People are replacing thermal pads themselves. I would guess, maybe erroneously, that with a 3080FE the cooling might be even worse/cheaper than the AIB boards..therefore worse for mining?

you talk as if its easy to get these on drops.

The last 3090FE was available to buy for over 40 minutes so yes it was easy. Although in another reality that sentence sounds quite stupid.

I think this is the first time the FE is better cooled than some of the AIB's.

Not sure the major companies will be rushing to get back into the mining-focused market. They all did that last time, then the bubble went pop and there seemed to be tons of stock of mining-focused motherboards and graphics cards left over that nobody wanted. I think ASRock only got into the graphics card business because of the last bubble, which popped just as they started releasing cards, but I guess that's paid off for them in the long run.

That sucks. I listened to the recording and couldn't hear anything but that might be coz I'm old now and according to youtube have the hearing of a 43 year old, which is close enough :) I assume you tested to check its definitely coming from the graphics card and not the PSU. If I can't hear your recording it could be my 3070 FE has horrible high pitch whine, I just cant hear it! If you were the unscrupulous type you could sell it even with the mention of coil whine or just no refund policy... I must rewatch that film The Ninth Gate.. I think it all works out if I remember correctly.. ;)

I've double-checked my 3060 Ti FE. Nothing like this sound, the card is almost silent. And under heavy load it sounds like a very quite "hum".

Try testing your 3070 FE in different computer with different PSU, just in case. Maybe it is not the card itself, but something else.

It's possible I'm just a bit OCD about these sorts of things but I just don't want to hear a hiss noise whilst waiting for my GPU to hit 0% fan speed (takes a while with current drivers).

Anyway, I think I'm just going to get another 3070 (probably the Gigabyte one) and sell the FE since insane people are spending £650+ on these.

I'll post any updates from Nvidia or the retailer.

Can confirm; My 3060 Ti FE is also near-silent

P.S.

I really dislike this black 8pin PCiex adaptor cable as my 8pin cable is a white one. Are any alternatively coloured ones available yet?

Might as well get a 3080FE for that price.

Even CeX will give you £561 cash for it if you want to sell it quickly and hassle-free, so sending it back for a refund would be pointless.
