The people running the alert channels have long since had their cards, it was pretty exclusive for the first few drops. There are thousands in there now. When I joined there was at most a couple of hundred covering all of Europe and most left when they got what they wanted.

This also happened to me, I got the discord notification, 3090 followed by the 3080, clicked the link but seemed to be stuck in some sort of limbo as it wasn`t shown as out of stock but there wasn`t a buy button either. I just kept hitting the refresh button and after a couple of minutes it then went out of stock but at no time did I see the buy button until the very last time I hit refresh and then it showed out of stock.

the one I clicked on was partalert telegram, the guys in ctralaltstock on discord were the ones who said ctrlaltstock was late.

I navigated the captcha the quickest I have probably ever done, and then had to refresh the product page a few times before it allowed me to add to basket. When I refreshed the nvidia page first, it was just saying sold out, so it was a bit weird, but I think the nvidia site might have caching issues.

I was also doing this in incognito mode and was pre logged in on that mode as well prepared unlike last time.

If you change your mind I’m sure they’ll be back on sale at 2pm another day soon.

i'm in 4-5 difffernet channels a found from just googling around and reddit, todays drop didnt appear in all of the channels though and the time differs 2-3 minutes accross them
 
There appears to be stock of Palit and Gigabyte 3090s on a competitor website. Out my price range, but still. RRP stock is becoming available

There also appeared to be stock today of a Gigabyte 3080, but missed it (probably gone in seconds, damned bots)

Hopefully all the bots sweep up stock of the JGP / PNG editon 3080s on an auction website :D

Yes, I will make sure I am prepared next time. I was logged in but I was distracted because just before the 3080 FE drop, which I wasn't expecting, by chance I got in a queue for a PS5 Digital Edition, of course after missing out on the 3080 the PS5 also went out of stock while I was in the queue so I didn't get either.

Anyway, I'm glad you got your card because it can be very frustrating.

I believe SAM is enabled at the system level in the BIOS and not driver related. It seems to depend on the game engine and how it is utilised how well it performs.

Nope, the BIOS just makes it work at all, but the drivers can override. AMD have said theirs do that on a per-game basis, because it does hurt some games.
 
It may vary from one site to the next, but after failing countless times since launch day and just recently getting an order to go through (on a different site), I feel like it's more luck than speed.

My successful attempt was not nearly my fastest effort. I was unprepaired, had to dig for my CC and the conformation code seemed to take forever to show up on my phone.

Don't get me wrong, I would still try to be ready and quick, but I think luck is a bigger factor.

Agreed, somewhere between the caching, where you fall in the queue + some orders probably falling through and the odd one becoming available again, luck is involved.

Cool, I didn't realise that. The only thing I'll be playing on the PC is MSFS2020 so happy to leave it off but I'll probably still test it out at some point to see what any difference is.
