30xx Series Founders Edition

I got my RTX 3070 FE by signing up for twitter notifications for PartAlert. This seemed easier than other methods to me, good luck. Drops seem to be anytime between 1:00pm to 4pm. I think there was one drop earlier before 11am, but I suspect that was an exception.

If looking for 3080 FE, I suspect you will have a hard time vs auto buying bots.

Anyone got a guide for someone who doesn't really use twitter that much on how to setup notifications for partalerts? I can follow them of course, and I can search on the relevant #tag but can't see how to create an alert/notification for that combo
From the Twitter phone app, follow PartAlert and click the notifications button (bell icon). There's also a button that orders tweets by date, that you need to enable. If it's working you will be spammed by AIB alerts  and eventually, 1 or more FE alerts.

There is a dedicated Telegram channel from PartAlert just for FE drops. If people can't get the alerts bit right, small chance of getting a drop imho.

Lots of people still busy at work I think. Can't hurt to use Telegram as well (especially if it avoids aib spam alerts), but that's new to me.

Last 3080 FE drop was seconds apparently, I think you also need to be 'lucky'.

The link works. App + channel looks decent, thanks.

Does anyone know if DLSS can actually boost performance of hardware based ray tracing? The link below shows a performance benefit with RT + DLSS, but its not clear if the perf. boost is only from the traditional rendering in the scene, or ray tracing itself. Link:
https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/news/nvidia-dlss-3dmark-port-royal-benchmark/

The reason I ask is, I'm wondering if DLSS can be further tweaked / optimised, to improve RT performance in games like WD: Legions.

DLSS is upscaling, it does not target Ray tracing or classic rasterization specifically. You simply run the game at a lower resolution so it runs faster then DLSS upscales the image. It can work on any game but it needs in game support.

DLSS won't be involved in the ray tracing process itself - but theoretically you could integrate it with the denoising process used to try and simulate the use of a higher ray count in the final image to improve the results - the performance advantage is relatively small there unless by doing it you can significantly reduce the rays needed at the same final output level.

Question about warranty for a 3090fe card.

Do I need to register it specifically online with Nvidia or via ‘the competitor’ that all these FE cards actually come from or what? I can’t see any obvious info about having to register the card for warranty on here and nothing came in the box....

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/support/warranty/

AFAIK do not need to do anything for warranty. Keep your proof of purchase and if you have an issue will be asked to provide it.

Seems like the main advantage of the 3090 vs 3080/3070/3060 is ray tracing. still not sure if worth it though. its roughly 2x the RT performance of the 3060 TI.

Its an expensive gouge for sure. Its more of a consideration when A) you cant get a 3080 FE as they vanish in seconds otherwise many more would have one instead of 3090 B) when not gaming you can mine on it and earn £50+ a week so the longer the market remains high, it will at some point pay the difference between the two and not have been a rip off.

Thanks bud, thought so. I don’t normally bother registering stuff for warranty but as this card is a bit of an investment, I thought I’d check.
