OcUK RX6700XT review thread

I think the impact of mining on GPU availability is overblown.
You can't get a latest gen console either and there is no mining on those.

Yeha but christmas has just passed and a load of those were bought up by scalpers so there's a lot of people still waiting to get on a few months on so they're still hard to come by for the most part. GPU shortage is down to not a lot of stock to begin with, along with miners and scalpers making them even harder to get.

I think it's almost certainly due to Brexit, they are shipping to Ireland after all. Someone posted this on Reddit otherwise I wouldn't have known.

It was explained in another thread, its due to a EU wide shipping process change (April 2021?) being brought forward in the U.K due to Brexit and quite a number of the fulfillment partners not having upgraded their software to support the EU wide change. That is why some people can ship OK and others not, it is likely that someone like Digital River who are having problems did not upgrade their software/business processes for the EU wide changes and were caught short because of Brexit.

Tbh I got no sympathy if that is the case, all these fulfillment and logistics companies that can't ship to the U.K knew the changes were coming and dropped the ball.

Its July, the vat at the point of sale not the point of entry changes. Its hitting small sellers though - HMRC are charging EU companies to file here, so they are not bothering. Also there will be no more `gift` box - vat applicable on everything, and customs will check a lot more of the items

For clarity;

Changes to VAT treatment of overseas goods sold to customers from 1 January 2021 - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

"Although these arrangements will mean that for many consignments not exceeding £135 in value there will no longer be any VAT to collect at the border, customs declarations will still be required for non-fiscal purposes. However, in recognition of the changed role of the customs declaration for affected consignments, a number of facilitations, including the use of reduced data sets and bulk declarations will be available"

Slightly late to the party, but after reading only 1 review so far GURU3D I am underwhelmed... I don't even know what the price in the UK is as I've stopped following GPU releases since Ampere due to stock and prices but I expect it to be a £499 card at least.. whereas the 5700XT launched at £379.99 offering similar levels to the 2070 super ( so 2080 nearly ).. I'm sticking with my 4790k & 980 Ti in till next year and I will be doing a complete rebuild..

Its the EU side not the UK side i was replying to - the UK applied the changes from January as you linked, whereas the EU will be changing in July.

They didn't know what changes were coming until the very last minute because the UK government wanted to pretend no significant changes would happen (in order to be populist), but I digress.

Thought it was April?
I think some things are happening in April, but the full phase-in was supposed to happen in July. Anyway there's been a unilateral extension of the grace periods by the UK so who knows now what will happen and when?
