30xx Series Founders Edition

Surprised the etailers could usurp the bots by offering loyal customers a form they complete to cover the legals; then with a known payment card linked to the account wait for the stock to open and the customer just clicks a link with validation only allowing one unit per account with extra bot measures in place.
 
I had one in my cart earlier as I was at the machine and already had a page open circa 10am time. I double took when there was 30+ models 'in stock' and realised there were 3070s and 3060s going on sale a few were buyable. £400+ for a 3060 though, no thanks and 3070s were going for near the price of a FE 3080 is sold for, ridiculous!

I wonder whether this was just stockpiling to give people a reasonable chance to buy or supply is improving?

I managed to get a 3060Ti when they were released back in December I think it was, I've tried every single 3080 drop since then and failed at every attempt, rules have since been changed so I now cant technically order a 3080 as I have a 3060Ti, but you still see all of the confirmed orders popping up on the bay etc shortly after the drops..

Fair play to you admitting it.

At least it sounds likes you are not actively going out of your way to buy every piece of hardware you can just to sell on for a profit unlike some here.....

Sadly a lot of long time standing members here are being scums trying to cash in on this, even going as far to get new numbers, create new email accounts and so on. Pretty pathetic imo given most of these people upgrade every year anyway.

Only way this would be really acceptable is if they are struggling for money because of covid causing furlough/redundancy but then again, having a top end rig shouldn't be their priority.... there's a lot better ways to make money than being a scalper and screwing other people over, not to mention they are contributing to the situation we are in today....

Would be great if the buyers on ebay decided to abuse paypals/ebays return policy within 6 months, karma can be a bitch

30xx cards will still be highly profitable from what I have heard. The biggest cost is electric and the UK has very high prices compared to some places.

Going from £7 a day to £3.5 a day not even taking into account elec will make a lot of miners think twice about buying overpriced 3000 series cards especially with ethereum POS coming soon aswell and while there are other coins to mine apart from ETH those are less profitable and will become even less profitable as more people start to mine those.

I dunno, I only checked it as I got a captcha prompt (site already been loaded since maybe night before) so I marked 3060/3060Ti/3070 and then it showed loads there to buy I realised I had lucked it ahead of the part alert waves. I was tempted but the cheapest 3060 was a single fan palit coming just over 400 with shipping then the next up were 420+ so I couldnt bring myself to go through the hassle (and deprive a bot/scalper of their stock).

Agree. The time to have one was before Christmas, all it takes is the bubble to burst and it halfs or more then the investment is going to take ages to pay off. 3070s going for near 3080FE price, joke.

People buying now for over double msrp may only end up breaking even at best if profits crash and GPU supply picks up.

It wouldn't be unthinkable for both nvidia and AMD to release variants in six months time with better spec or features (as it would be a year after initial release) and have plenty available. Like you said, the desperate folk paying an extra ton on a 3060 right now will only regret it when the market vacuum hits and even second hand ones come flooding.

I've already said here, and Hexus, that if I get a 3080 I'll offer the 3060Ti out before it goes on FB Marketplace or eBay etc, so while if I can, I'll buy another card, and the CPU comment was kinda 1/3rd in jest as the chances of me getting a better CPU are better than me getting another GPU...
