I don't think either of them care about money as much as you think. IIRC they have given a large chunk of it to good causes and continue to do so.

They are still committed to giving it away to 'good causes' so the money is a non-issue. Considering Gates got out of MSFT more than decade ago and stepped down from Berkshire Hathaway, it's been crazy to see how his wealth has grown, despite trying to give it away hand over fist (nearly $5bn in 2017).

To be fair, the gates foundation has already pledged over a billion dollars to combat hunger. It's a lot more complex than just giving starving people money to buy food to solve the problem.

Is this a serious post? How much do you think the water infrastructure cost for the UK as well as annual costs to maintain a run it? You think a "few billion" will do that for the continent of Africa? There's 1.2 billion people in Africa in an area 3 times the size of Europe FYI. Bill Gates could spend his entire net worth and it wouldn't put a dent Africa's problems, that's why he's taken a targeted approach. For some context Bill Gates is worth around $130bn if he could some how liquidate all of his assets, the US Federal budget for 2020 was $6.6 trillion and they have less than 1/3 Africa's population to look after with all of the infrastructure they need already built and in place.
