RX 6600XT 1080p gaming for $379 on Aug 11

They are indeed, but I think the 6700xt's for £750+ that were on most retailers sites for a while were worse value!

Totally agree with that, I would have pushed for the 6700xt if they were available for rrp.

just hope the GPU pricing isn’t now messed up for years to come, if not permanently

I think one of the problems with the RX 6600, is value. When compared to the Series X GPU, is has a lower memory bandwidth, less VRAM, a lower texture rate and TFlop count.

But equally a series X GPU doesn't need to be sold with a high mark-up as it makes money from the sale of software license fees. Also it doesn't require years of driver support and emergency patches.

It's aimed at 1080p /1440p

Whereas the series X is aimed at 4k

So it doesn't need any of those to compete at its designated market

Prices gonna rocket in a few weeks according to Gibbo (info from aibs).

Start ****ing praying!
Wow! I don't think this card will ever be an option for me in the future. I would imagine that nobody would buy a card like the 6600 xt any higher than it is priced currently but I guess people are desperate (understandably).

True. But the 6700 XT compares much more favourably with the Series X GPU, with a higher pixel rate, texture rate and TFlop count. Both RX 6000 cards also have 32-96MB of Infinity cache, which the console GPUs apparently don't have. The 6700XT also has more VRAM (12GB). The 6700XT and Series X official UK prices are similar too, at £420 and £450, respectively.

The Series X GPU has a higher memory bandwidth than the 6700 XT, but according to AMD, infinity cache will more than make up for this. I assume the chart below is for 128MB of infinity cache, so the memory bandwidth performance boost would be less than double with the 6700 XT, probably closer to a 75% boost in memory bandwidth throughput (Since it has 25% less infinity cache than the 6800 and 6900 GPUs).

AMD claiming more than a 2X memory bandwidth boost with infinity cache, here:

So, the 6700 XT is likely to offer better performance than the Series X GPU in all areas (on paper, at least) and should perform better at 4k resolution too, if you can actually find one at MSRP... If you can't, the Series X GPU isn't far behind it.

The performance of the Series X GPU should in theory, be somewhere in between the 6600 XT and the 6700 XT.
