Having a system that is separated by a couple of gadgets is not a class system at all. Just have to look at previous games to know there's a large difference between using an assault class and a medic class. Now it's everything exactly the same besides a grappling hook, a drone a turret, or a sensor ball. Pathetic.

And I'm not alone in this opinion, plenty of people are finding this game utterly laughable with how dumbed down it is. The opinion for the most part seems to be more negative than positive looking across multiple forums. Enjoy your premium price free to play game in disguise come November. :)

Well we clearly should just end this conversation here, its quite blatantly still a class system literally by definition because there are certain items that you can only have if you pick certain "classes", however your dislike of the game is seemingly making it impossible for you to grant it even the slightest of acknowledgements so whereas I am being objective and saying that yes the class system is very different but its still a class system of a sort, your just flat out not having any of it. Thus, its a pretty pointless discussion because we arent going to get anywhere with it other than to boost both of our postcounts by arguing back and forth about it.

As for opinion, I really dont give a flying **** about the opinion of the masses, I buy a game and indeed base that purchase of a game on whether or not I enjoy the game, not whether the masses enjoy a game or hate it. So, Enjoy my premium price free to play game (yet another dig I see :) ) , yes, yes I will, for at least as long as its a going concern, thank you for giving me that allowance to enjoy it , I hope that you find something equally as enjoyable to you to play in November too. That way both you and I can be happy with our respective purchases :)

Not a dig, an observation based on the evidence at hand. Nobody can play this game and tell me it hasn't been drastically scaled back in terms of complexity, just have to look at the video i posted to see all the stuff that somehow got removed for this game, a lot of which were part and parcel of the game since Bf3. In the end we'll probably find out that EA were ****** about firestorm flopping so badly after putting time and money into it so they used the bones of it to make this, dinky little number and flogged it as the next game in the franchise. Is it any wonder they were crowing about it being ahead of schedule with how bare bones it is? :cry:

OMG people are so dramatic here and elsewhere. If you had fun, great. If you didn't and cancelled your pre-order, also great. The whole 'I need to tell someone my opinion and my opinion is right and if someone has a different one I must tell them why my opinion is right' is endemic throughout the internet. Let people who enjoyed it have fun.

Interestingly one time i was in the spawn screen this appeared:

Not sure whats going on there, wasn't able to click on any of them but they were skins from bf3 and 4 showing as options for whatever reason.

I would be surprised if it shipped with four (there are more I'm aware) facial skins, seeing as it's two different factions fighting each other. We'll see :)

Well this confuses me even more. So Casper and Maria share the same icon/symbol from the classes but Boris and grapperly boy have unique icons, what does it all mean? does each character/class splinter into two types?, So Boris as a Rook or as an Engineer depending on the loadout?

Imo it would be better to have the default class selection, then select which skin to have in relation to that class or have the default BF3/4 skin ala Mil Sim operator in Warzone.

It is an odd one, I've said throughout this thread if you enjoyed it great, if you are on the fence then maybe go with the 1 month of ea play and try release version before you buy and if you dont like it then thats ok too and hopefully you'll find something better for you.

But some people, and I am guilty of this myself at times, are like a dog with a toy in their mouths, they just will not drop something until everyone agrees with their viewpoint, either that or they just like arguing ;)

Those are the classes from the Portal game mode, its a known bug from the beta build. You can't use them in the main game. Presumably the icons on the operators are just to give you a rough idea of what their gadget is.
 
I think the disappointment is the worst part of it all. I was really excited for 2042 from seeing the first trailer and I thought I'd finally found the next shooter I'd go full time on. I wasn't overly keen with BF5 (346 BF4 hours vs 76 BFV) so seeing it come back to modern/futuristic times got me really excited. Then to finally get to play it and get... well something that feels more like a regression than a progression of BF4 or even 5, it leaves a really foul taste in the mouth.

I just went and had a few games on BF5 this evening and it feels like so much of a better game and I don't even like the setting. Everything in 5 feels superior to 2042 and it's just absurd.

V isnt a great game but id take it over what i played in the demo any day, though that being said BF1 was superior to V by a country mile.

Yeah it wasn't great. It's not awful and I liked some bits about it but I would've never bought it with my own money. I did use EA Pro to rent it for a month and then it came with my RTX 2080 at the time. I never got BF1 as I don't like the old settings
 
I'm going to get Ea Play and give it a shot.
Beta just didn't feel right for me with lots of things a bit off so it may well improve by release.

Like a few of the other posters on here I would love Bad Company 3 if they can capture the essence of BC 2. Used to love playing that with some of the people on this forum.
 
Of courses there's a class system.... there's turret class and grappling class etc....:p

I'll be trying the final game for £4 with EA Play but I fear I won't make it to 10 hours...This is coming from someone who has over 1000 hours in both BF3 and 4
 
If you played the beta EA will send out a questionnaire asking about what everyone is moaning about so you can voice your opinions.

Dice did go back on the increased TTK on BFV so they do listen sometimes!
