Anyone who can’t see what just happened needs to take off their blinkers.

LH absolutely blitzed the field. Yes, sure, new engine, they “weren’t trying because they knew he’s dropping 5 places tomorrow” but 20th to 5th in such a short space of time is nothing short of sensational.

and managed to nearly catch Perez having had to fight through all that traffic. It was impressive. Meanwhile Perez is stuck behind a Ferrari of all cars.

That doesn't matter a jot. If he ran a wing which, whether it broke or not, failed the test yet didn't obviously give a disadvantage (indeed an almost certain advantage) there was only ever going to be one outcome.

As for Merc not seeing it, I'm sure they have it now and will be able to repair it in time of for the race, should it be needed.

So if a car has a chunk of bodywork come off and technically runs underweight, they shouldn't be allowed to replace it for scrutineering? Although it's deliberately allowed in the regs that any damaged or broken parts can be swapped for parts of an identical spec for scrutineering purposes.

Mercedes reveals that Lewis Hamilton's DRS failed the FIA checks by just 0.2mm because it was likely broken on one side. Zero tolerance given for damage.

and that’s why the penalty doesn’t sit well for me. Same as sebs issue I guess, but still at least it hopefully puts the cheating comments to rest. A pathetic ruling over 0.2mm. The FIA know exactly what they are doing this season.

My prediction is Bottas to start on softs again to maintain track position ahead of Max. Redbull may have to try to outdo them on the strategy again. I think Lewis can get 3rd but not beyond that. It depends on what Bottas does.

I see Karen Horner was being his slimey self when interviewing on Sky talking about why Hamilton's car was fast, insinuating that the rear wing is still illegal and that dodgey things are happening. Max spoke of there being "clearly something going on there" and that this is the reason he touched it. For someone that goes on and on about how they must focus on themselves, Christian and his toxic posse are clearly butt hurt that Merc designed a more flexy wing than them. Merc were innovative with the DAS and now the aero underflow stalling. Redbull don't like these enhancements and basically act like the Ferrari of old calling out anything that makes others fast. This season massively favours high rake cars so Merc have tried to offset this by being super fast in a straight line.

It happened to alpine earlier in the year with the fuel sample not being available to a technical failure.
So the precedent was set.

Not sure these are really comparable, but while I think it's a little on the harsh side, I can't see Mercedes have much grounds for complaint.

I’m sure max will be able to bump his way past bottas tomorrow, the FIA have really wanted Red Bull to win the championship this year

Vettel in the Aston Martin at Hungary.

That wasn't a technical failure. The fuel wasn't in there to be retrieved. The car was stopped on track post race, so was immediately flagged for a fuel sample. Only 0.3l could be retrieved using every method allowed.

It's the F1 teams job to get any advantage they can.
If ANY team sniffs something might be a off somewhere else, you bet your bottom dollar they will complain.
Some are just better at doing it on the down low then the others.

It’s really irritated me. Such a pathetic ruling. Back of the grid for 0.2mm. F1 does it’s best to switch me off sometimes.

It's harsh but there has to be a cut off point. If they allow 0.2 now will they allow 0.3mm next time and if they do what's the point of having a limit in the first place?
