So anytime the stewards get a contentious decision they’ll just “note it” and double down on the technicality of not needing to investigate something they didn’t originally investigate.

Gotcha.

I don't think the penalty had to be too harsh, either 5 secs from that race (maybe too harsh as it would drop him a place) or a small grid penalty. A grid penalty would be unlikely to harm him too much but would show that he can't get away with driving how he did.

So you don't want a penalty then...

If there is no punishment in the penalty then its not a penalty. You also can't decide against a punishment because it would actually punish someone.

This has just been a bad decision. Its validated Max's decision to drive like an entitled **** and there are 3 races left now where Lewis has to be super careful around Max because he knows that he can get away with very questionable manoeuvres. If there isn't a crash between Hamilton and Max by the end of the season I will be very surprised.

Indeed, can't wait to see everyone driving every one of the track...should spice things up a bit

I saw a story somewhere where LeClerc basically said he may change his defensive/attacking style depending on the outcome of this. So i guess that's at least one driver deciding enough is enough...

I do like the wording in the decision document - nothing significant from what was available previously. In other words "yes we saw that it was a breach previously, but choose to ignore it. the new camera angle shows it was still a breach and we still choose to ignore it, therefore it was nothing significant. It would only be significant if we were willing to change our minds which we arent".

What a farce, clearly deserved a penalty and may set a dangerous precedent, it has become painfully obvious that they are biased against Hamilton. I remember when they robbed a victory from him in Italy 2019 when they failed to give Leclerc a penalty. My guess is because it would be good for F1 to have a new champ, which was made obvious with the floor rule changes this year aimed at slowing down Mercedes. I doubt it's because some of the stewards are racist but I honestly wouldn't rule it out at this point.
