Energy Suppliers

On the tax bands thing, I searched mine on the gov website. We are in a semi, and there is two pairs of these semis (4 houses total, on our road 1 to 4). Houses 1 and 3 are band E, and 2 and 4 are band D. They are identical, no idea how that was calculated. Thankfully I'm in an even numbered semi, but I'm sure my neighbours will be really annoyed.

But its reasonable to say if you were i the 120k band E in 1991 your house will be worth notably more than someone in 40k band A in 1991. Cheaper houses are cheaper for a reason.. ****** areas and locations, poor housing quality so cheaper bands make sense as less affluent people will live there

In many cases yes, but you'll still have situations where **** areas will have improved and gone up in value significantly (and the opposite). E.g. my brother's house in Bristol is in a lower band than mine in Birmingham, despite being worth 2-3x as much because it's in an area which has seen a lot of regeneration over the past 10 years or so.

Went from a 4kw (no approval needed) to an 8kw (needed western power approval), would have gone for a 12kw if possibly but western wouldnt approve it without dropping 10k in their back pockets.

No batteries yet, though considering importing a flow battery and setting it up to charge on E7 rate in the night and then completely avoid any peak power consumption in the daytime.

Ah DNO strikes again, WPD were not an issue for me, after I completed the G99 it was accepted just fine, and when I asked they said anything up to the maximum single phase 17kW would be possible at my property, so good news for the future.

I love having the battery as a whole home UPS, not just the extra savings that can be made over time. It certainly makes you think on your feet if you have an unusually sunny day in the winter, still trying to gather data on a daily basis, but I constantly moving the goal posts as more things in the the home move to pure electric.

Im going to take some fire for this comment however...... all the people complaining about being in band E for council tax. Isnt it reasonable that since your assets are worth more and are therefore in a higher tax band , that you can afford to pay more and not get a rebate? I realise if you are renting this isnt always the case but if you own the property then its different?

Not really. Council tax band decisions are often bizarre.

I literally just installed a 12kw array with a 10kw battery, but I am concerned for my Mum in particular with these rises.

Politics playground will certainly be interesting

They really should look at the incentives though, I think I get 1.5p per kwh with my current provider

We already pay more in taxes anyway, now we will pay more again.

Indeed. I also resent mine being in band E compared with other properties in the area. It isnt that great or big and pretty average. They way they work out the bands is pretty stupid in my opinion.

Can't wait to see what everyone spends their £200 rebates on. I'm thinking of using mine to pay off the £200 rebate I have to pay back

54% increase, I mean we knew it was coming but holy **** :(

Government rubbing their hands after taking their 5% cut.

I doubt it, and not as much as half the country are going to be rubbing their hands to keep warm. 5% VAT on essentials like heating versus 20% that they would have spent elsewhere.

Yup, unfortunately its a capacity issue with the lines to my property apparently.

Not sure I would go that far as thinking on my feet, im thinking more just to make sure our day time usage drops to zero and just find the cheapest E7 rate going to charge the battery overnight if it say, drops below 25% charge.

Happy I got to fix a few months ago, for 3 years...
People on the breadline already are going to be totally screwed. Food banks are going to be even more popular.

Same.
If I remember you pay much less then me. But I'm still under the (new) price cap.
