Energy Suppliers

Happy I got to fix a few months ago, for 3 years...
People on the breadline already are going to be totally screwed. Food banks are going to be even more popular.
Same here, I fixed with Sainsbury’s(EDF) in October for 2 years for a plan I thought was a little on the expensive side but could see the way everything was going, I’m now paying at least 10p per KWH less than what’s available for electric and at least 6p per KWH less for gas

Im a bit surprised at how reasonable people have been to my comment so cheers guys :)

Also re the tax rebate its £150 for those in bands A-D which equates to £2.88 a week or 41p a day. If anyone is complaining about 41p a day i think the energy increase is the least of their worries.

Current SVT average (as it varies on regions) is:
  • 4p per kilowatt hour (p/kWh) for gas
  • 21p/kWh for electricity
  • A standing charge of 26p per day for gas
  • A standing charge of 25p per day for electricity

Rough increased cap, assuming a 54% increase on unit price and standing charge would be:

  • 0.0616p per kilowatt hour (p/kWh) for gas
  • 32.34p/kWh for electricity
  • A standing charge of 39.81p per day for gas
  • A standing charge of 38.5p per day for electricity

That electricity rate is shocking.

I've seen current 1 year fixes are. Considerably more than that.too.

32p a kwh when you work at home.. Brutal.

That is almost my current fixed rate for the next 19 months, except my SC is £10 per month more expensive

Just checked slack at work and currently no official unit prices for SVT just the 54% bump and no new products at the moment but they are hastily assessing the position of current price offers and future ones and will update asap.

If anyone is with EON Next and on the SVT, be advised the best deal at the moment other than the SVT is the Next online v9 i believe and thats not actively being sold as its a loss making product that im expecting to get pulled any day now especially after todays announcements.

For example, and im an electricity only property but use this as some guidance

Currently im on (until sept 22)
23.19 Day
11.96 Night
17p SC

Current SVT
24.77 Day
13.60 Night
28.41 SC

Next Online V9 (cheapest 1 yr tarrif for me if i wasnt fixed already and not on SVT)
28.00 Day
16.77 Night
40.04 SC

New SVT (applying 54% increase for my property)
38.14 Day
20.94 Night
43.75 SC

Slightly cheaper. I thought it showed you all available deals (did in past) only showing one deal ant that's a 24 month one

It was put out this morning to not actively sell the next online v9 to new customers so i imagine they are pulling it from current customers too as its loss making. You could call Next up and politely charm and or complain to see if someone will switch you onto the Online v9 as the tarrif still exists in the system and can be used from what ive seen this morning when i was doing a bit of poking about.

Trying to buy a house at the moment. Can't wait to ring up the energy company when we get in, and get bent over!

If you are getting a mortgage, extend it before moving, and get some solar installed with a battery. Pay off with savings from generation, and live with less stress wondering what next bill rise is going to make you bend over.

Thanks for the info, just switched to the online v9 before they pull it. Just had an email confirming it. Rates for me are 27.72p/kWh and 41.85p/day, fixed for 1year.

No worries, just dont hold me to anything :D just putting out there what i've seen as an official announcement this morning on slack

While its still horrifically expensive i think you have landed a good deal there to be honest given whats happened to pricing already and what will now happen with the SVT increase

anyone who got pulled from avro into octopus have it all setup now? my account still only shows gas, no DD for the last 2 months(can see octopus one created in account) and no transfer of credit from avro or electricity in the list! wonder if I'm alone before I contact them.

So is it worth fixing now?

Never mind, looks like the variable will still be cheapest given we know it's going to be a 54% at most increase.

Fantastic thanks very much just set it up to switch to that fixed tariff end of March

Elect 26.98/KW standing 40.2
Gas 5.53/KW standing 42.31

Not bad all things considered

Thanks again
