I agree with you, but i honestly don't think there will be any actual long term consequence for the invasion. There will be political posturing and then it will be quitely swept away within the next few years

I was wondering if they're trying to preserve what they have, rather than lose everything in a day or two, try and drag it out a bit.
More likely they never bothered to hand them out and they all got blown up in one of those warehouse explosions
If Finland joined NATO then annexation = WW3 anyway... Putin isn't that dumb, Ukraine and Georgia are not NATO members.

Now, to be fair, we have had some serious things to deal with here. Parties within the government offices, racial, misogynistic, sexual orientationally based and similar life threatening slurs on social media, a man teaching his pug dog to make a Nazi salute needed criminalising, a police force left with serious knee issues after prostrating themselves before those others might declare dodgy, hundreds of "irregular", to coin a phrase much beloved of The Guardian, economic migrants landing on out beaches thanks to the likes of the RNLI, who need housing, and feeding and mollycoddling, probably ad infinitum and for free.
We have been spread thinly because of these shocking issues, beyond our control of course and all deserving of vast amounts of official's and charity's time and money. And while these major internal issues are being addressed by apologetic liberals it has unfortunately let a most secretive dark and dire plot from the East to evolve, totally unnoticed ....
Could we actually LEARN something from Mr Vladimir Putin here??? Or are forever to be led on a liberal path of self destruction by a swathe of weirdos hell bent on eviscerating England from within?

I'm a bit worried about that, there did seem to be a bit of disbelief on the part of the Ukrainians, didn't mobilise soon enough, bridges to Crimea didn't get shelled or blown up just allowing Russian tanks to advance straight across, ditto to routes from Belarus.
Would be very bad if those things weren't distributed. The NLAWs in particular don't have a particularly long-range, but are super useful at attacking any Russian armour in urban areas.
One thing to remember is that Ukraine is absolutely enormous. So there will be huge swathes of land the russians will pass through before hitting resistance. But yeah. surprised there wasn't plans in place to tear upblockade roads etc and at least hamper their movement.
If I had infiltrated the enemy, that sort of logistical 'error' would be top of the agenda. And knowing where they were. Those things should be distributed around any and all airfields.

Theoretical question as I know it won't happen but if some Eastern European countries in NATO sent in military support independently would that count as NATO taking action?

Scholz says no, given how passive Germany have been towards this from the start it's expected, not to mention the Elephant in the room of their reliance on RU gas, however I wonder if Boris is doing this rally call simply because he knows it will be rejected not because he think it's the right thing to do

I know he probably did it for the right reasons (avoiding panic) but Zelensky does seem to have been pretty slow to grasp that the threat was as real as its turned out to be so I’m not surprised.

I imagine it's this. The whole thing is a done deal now. All we're seeing here is play-acting.
I don't know definitively but I suspect they can go in and assist independently on their own and it won't be considered a NATO act. However, if Russia then turned on said country and tried to invade it/attack it in retaliation for said country intervening abroad (i.e. in Ukraine) NATO would need to decide whether its steps in to assist that country.
No doubt there would be a lot of hesitation, too much hesitation, and more catastrophe resulting in NATO just saying "we didn't authorise that, get out or we'll sanction you some more."
EDIT: Agree with chrismscotland above though, Putin would undoubtedly consider it a NATO act. Even if NATO denied that.
