I think what the last couple of days has shown is, in a conventional war Russia wouldn’t stand a chance against the USA never mind the full force of NATO

But there will never be a conventional war between them, so it is a completely moot point.

Neither side would ever start that, as they both know exactly where it would inevitably lead, so neither side can win that.

I still think the west is full of empty rhetoric. Sure there will be sanctions but they'll let other things go like SWIFT, gas and other elements like that which keeps cash flowing, because as long as companies get money and so on people will turn a blind eye. You either put hard sanctions in full on or don't bother surely? Otherwise it's frankly just words no? Or am I being daft and missing something?

Netherlands sending 200 Stinger missiles to Ukraine and more military aid en route.

Words can hurt just as much as been face 2 face with blood shead.

Of course I'd rather words than bloodshed. I'm a massive pacifist. But surely they need words that actually mean something?

Otherwise all this tutting and huffing that the Western leaders are doing is nothing other than that surely?

There could be a case for doing it gradually to show some sense of fairness. Absolutely destroying the Russian economy overnight could tip the manlet over the edge.

France sending weapons to Ukraine
Weapons and equipment are en route from France to Ukraine, as the West supplies aid to Ukraine in their battle with advancing Russian troops.
President Zelensky tweeted that he had spoken to France's President Macron early on Saturday morning as a "new day on the diplomatic frontline began".
"The anti-war coalition is working!" Mr Zelensky tweeted.

A bit late to the party but welcome none the less. I suspect Macron was urged based on French voter expectations..

Its not a world war, not even close. Its barely even a proxy war at the moment.

You have your opinion , I have mine. IMO, if 30 nations are involved in a war by actively giving people the weapons to kill the forces of the other side, that makes it a world war, albeit it, as I say, a different kind of world war to what we would previously perhaps define as a world war.

That would be the sensible thing to do.

People are too excitable banging on the war drum, calling everybody weak for not provoking this so called crazy, unstable man into doing something actually crazy.

It’s a good job all they do post on forums and it’s kind of entertaining but kind of scary at the same time.

They will and do mean something.

Also - 28 nations have now agreed to provide military support to Ukraine.

Chechnya is sending 10,000 soldiers to Ukraine.

Let's hope it doesn't push the despot to do stupid things.

Yes that's a fair comment.

Clearly I'm not an expert on politics so thank you for the reply.

However I've been doing some learning on the Ukraine / Russia story and it does seem to me that irrespective of political showboating Ukraine does seem to want to break free but Putin doesn't want to let it go but there seems to be something else not obvious (to me) going on.

Hopefully someone close to Putin will either calm him down or pop a pill in his food.

You've redefined world war though
