I suspect the Military will step up but not do anything.

Probably just something to help turn the Russian population even more against the west. As if the nuclear deterrent isn't always "alert" and fully active anyway.

His Generals know that nuclear action is a one way ticket, and the failsafe of nuclear war is a response. This is not what the Russian public want or deserve.

I think Putin has made it abundantly clear that he doesn't give a second hand potato about the Russian population's views on any subject, let alone the casualty rate of this war.

If his military revolt the last thing going through his mind will be a 9x18mm reminder of the Russian populations view.

He talks like we are the aggressor, what an idiot, he is the one doing all of this. If there's a nuclear war I hope I am killed instantly in the blast, I don't want to suffer horribly in a futile situation.

Well that means the US too.. hence Russia would have Europe and the US response - although the US would keep enough back for China.

ICBMs take time. Even Hypersonics take time. So everyone will have time to launch. Even Russia doesn't have the tech to protect themselves.

I agree - most military see it as a deterrent from nuclear aggression, and will push back against a first strike because of the response.

I suspect there is real concern in russia with Putin's sanity..

Absolutely would involve the US, can't imagine a first strike wouldn't include the biggest nuclear power who would be imminently returning fire.
