They relented in the end though and Ukraine was given a MAP and the blessing of NATO to begin plans for joining. Sadly though Ukraine abandoned it's NATO ambitions in 2010 after Yanukovych became president (in fairness that was part of his manifesto, but then so was agreeing to an association agreement with the EU and he reneged on that in favour of a union with Russia/Belarus >.>).
 
I wonder if Macrons call with Putin is being shared and analysed by psychiatric experts? It must be. Whatever the point of the conversations, its aneffective technique to tie up Putins time during the day when he needs his focus elsewhere.

Maybe even Macron has been instructed to engage in certain topics, certain phrasing to prompt an evaluation from Putin to see how he responds and the tone of his language used.

There's no real way to know without knowing exactly how many they have lost. On the day it kicked off they had roughly as many tanks as Russia had on the border, and theirs were on average better tanks so you would think they shouldn't have lost that many more than Russia as Russia don't have as good anti tank as we have given Ukraine.
 
I know everyone thinks the same but the more I watch this unfolding it literally makes my blood boil. How is it fair that a whole country with innocent people just trying to live their lives are having their country totally ruined. It just makes me so angry! I get the whole reason nobody from the west can intervene physically but it’s so so sad we just sit here and watch whilst it happens. Why doesn’t somebody just slip putin something in his tea, disgusting vile man

Bear in mind that the powers that be are doing absolutely everything to avoid this while also trying to dampen Russia's actions.

Worst case scenario, OK, let's say it DID happen. You would either die very quickly or have to stay indoors for a couple of weeks while the fallout clears.

ok after the fallout clears what happen? would you survive the coming months eating what exactly? drinking radioactive water? in case of a nuclear war it would be best to be near the evaporation zone, anything less is diabolical

The one thing we can take from all this is that we can finally but to bed the notion of visiting / resident aliens. Where are the grey's or the Nordics when you need them eh?

I literally can't stop watching it. I've had sky news on for 5 days now even though 99% of what I see is a repeat!

As if he cares!!! He’s an ageing man who wants to leave a legacy.

IMO this is gonna get VERY bad for all of us, especially after today’s parliamentary announcement emphasising how we were the first to provide support and harsh sanctions.

This sums it up and is why he will not be allowed to win.

Going back some time we had the Bosnian thing and that was absolutely shocking, in the end nato or someone just bombed the **** out of the Serbs. I was aghast at how far they let it go though, at least the powers seem to be more on the case now.
I just read an article about the central banks action saying it risks going too far and collapsing the whole Russian economy.
It's a difficult balancing act.

I arrived at a warehouse in Preston on Friday to do a delivery, I was told I had a long wait as his Ukrainian warehouse staff had jumped in their cars and headed home - with every intention of fighting - if this is a snapshot of the Ukrainian attitude toward this, Putin may well have a large problem especially considering his conscript based army was told they were going in as liberators…..

I think - and hope - he’s massively got this wrong and there’s a right minded group in Russian power circles that will do what’s required, Putin is achieving everything he supposedly feared by this folly, I suspect and hope his days already may be numbered….

Half my team at work are contractors living and working in the Ukraine. It's amazing how they're just turning up for work, although I don't know how close they are to any action, but surreal when they suddenly leave a meeting due to air raid sirens. They're just decent hard working normal people like much of us. Even those behind the triggers of the guns on the ground are just people doing what they're told (mostly).

Shouldn't happen in 2022, I hope someone makes Putin choke on Novichok and he's replaced by a decent human being.

Watch the video I've studied nuclear war for 35 years -- you should be worried.
