It's becoming a disgrace how we can't distance ourselves from china/Russia. We are all to blame.

Capitalism seems to be on its last legs. We can't keep buying stuff from these "regimes" because it's cheap. We've always known what Russia mad China are like. But it's been easy to brush it off to date.

If we survive this it's going to be apparent (it already is) who we shbe trading with.

Maybe. Just maybe some good can come of this.
We reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and somehow move away from buying cheap tat from China (less likely)

If its not nuclear war it will be environmental catastrophe.

Unfortunately the new climate report has been published during this war so no one will care. But it presents a bleaker outlook than we thought.

I'm so so so glad I'm not growing up as a kid or teen way world is going.

Edit.
No. I don't think anything will change quickly enough

the term “nukes” is rather general.

US trident and other platforms are core of the deterrent against nuclear aggression by oppressive regimes.
So basically russia are asking for the impossible to justify their own needs.

it must be peeving that the EU isn’t a pushover to the best made plans..

Quite oddly Brexit has likely strengthen the EU in this, as Britain are no longer on the inside paid by Russians to shout the whole thing down.
Thye are doing reasonably well in terms of solidarity and keeping to one message, unlike our racist clowns of fruit foremen, and instagrammers.

It seems to bring peoples true colors to light.
Not really seeing anybody talk about Yemen either. Seems to have largely gone under the radar.

Since Saudi Arabia and its allies intervened in Yemen’s civil war in March 2015, the United States gave its full support to a relentless air campaign where Saudi warplanes and bombs hit thousands of targets, including civilian sites and infrastructure, with impunity. From the beginning, US officials insisted that American weapons, training and intelligence assistance would help the Saudis avoid causing even more civilian casualties.

But this was a lie meant to obscure one of the least understood aspects of US support for Saudi Arabia and its allies in Yemen: it’s not that Saudi-led forces don’t know how to use American-made weapons or need help in choosing targets. They have deliberately targeted civilians and Yemen’s infrastructure since the war’s early days – and US officials have recognized this since at least 2016 and done little to stop it.

Considering it could get out of hand very quickly and there is a possibility of skirmishes if Russia decides it’s had enough and wants to push through Europe Nazi Germany style then they need to be ready.

There is no way Russia has the capabilities to do this now nor will they attack another European country. This war has shown that their Army is very average and NATO forces would steam roll all the way to Putins evil lair

Has anyone done an investigation on Farage's finances?

Clearly from a diplomatic and cooperation standpoint: Uniting Europe and to a large part most of the world in a way not really seen since WWII, finally seeing Russia for what it is and stopping leaders in France / Germany and Italy for ignoring it, forcing those who have fallen behind to increase defense spending, an end to reliance on Russian gas.

All of the above have been major world issues which should have been tackled sooner, yet infighting, political red tape and a mentality of "sorting it tomorrow" has been an issue for decades.

After this is all done, China will be the next major problem and I imagine what is going on now Politically will be a roadmap.

Interesting the states around the med are mainly the ones with US 'rented' nukes weapons. Turkey being one, Italy etc. So I'm wondering if Putin-escu's plan is attempt to annex the Black Sea completely for Russian use. Including the straights. Basically they don't like Turkey due to the drones and aid..

It seems like step 2 in the plan after "annex" Ukraine is moving into action.

Russia will need to accept losing in Ukraine. I also can’t see them doing that or going down quietly. We are relying on Russia getting overthrown from the inside or coming to their senses.

Britain was among the first to sound the warning - while France and Germany were dancing to Putins tune.

Britain was among the First to supply aid and announce meaningful sanctions - unlike Germany who hesitated due to being on Russian gas.

The Torys were clowns and Brexit was a mistake - but in this case they got some things right; despite many hysterical left/right talking heads banging on about war mongering.

I get your point but I don't think this has solved any problems, just made us unite temporarily. Honestly, outside of this forum, hardly anyone I know talks about it, irl or online.

I think that in the short-term it's great that the NATO countries have pulled together and the world is, mostly, seeing Russia for what it is, but I don't think this is the start of long-term unity. When this is over I think we will just go back to our old ways.

That said, this has drawn out longer than I expected. Many, many people expected this to be over by last weekend [as stated on the BBC website this morning]. The fact that's it's still going on means that it could draw out much longer than many expected.

Agreed, the Russian army is large is terms of boots on the ground but their defense spending is only about equal to that of the UK. There is no way they could take on NATO or Europe, of course Putin would definitely go all in at this point, he firmly believes that there would be no world without Russia.

Agreed. I can't see putin backing down. He's been all in from the start

Agreed. I suspect there's Russian-Chinese plan with every banking, trade and military step.

The question is would China stop at Taiwan? The issue for China is that it's more difficult to drive into Taiwan in that way, so it's likely to be a long term plan of depression of Taiwan until the US looses interest (technology moves out).

Nope, that’s a live cam feed and he likely rewind to post it on social media.

That's not the point of what I said. Why am I watching a man watching an explosion on screen from a warzone? We know they are doing air strikes, it's all over the news.

Like, why that one particularly?

I'd be wary of judging their army on what we've seen in Ukraine. But ultimately they just aren't geared up to take on NATO forces in a direct confrontation - they haven't gone to a full mobilisation or built up forces for a larger war, their regular army has their hands full with their current requirements and the forces invading Ukraine are not configured for engaging NATO forces. never mind not having the numbers for it.
