I live in the UK, why would I need Russian lessons? Please educate me, we have a nuclear deterrent with the same red lines as Putin. We don't fight Russians, Russians don't fight us. That's it. I'm sorry people are getting teary about Ukraine, but ultimately they can flee their country and we can all live, that's a better outcome than everyone being dead. I'm sorry that's the decision we're facing but hard lines.

I don't think so. There's a lot of talking heads and public opinion about it, but the people who actually make decisions are very clear about not backing it. They know that a no-fly zone means shooting down Russian planes and that's a serious step towards a shooting war between NATO and Russia.

I think most people see nuclear war as a few big bombs. Not the nuclear winter, contaminated water etc that comes with it.

Or they can genuinely 'run off to countryside'

I think too many people have played too many video games at times; even up here (Scotland) it would be incredibly difficult to escape it even if weapons were "only" launched at "military" facilities - you could write off Glasgow and most of the Central Belt; Edinburgh and most of the Forth.

I think more people should go away and watch Threads and maybe the Day After and then come back
 
I bet elon lady gaga and elton john are sat in his spaceship ready to fly to the moon which will be heaving with stella and cheese an onion crisps while we all turn into burgers.

The modern nukes are massive, Hiroshima was a small one, drop one in London/Edinburgh/Cardiff each and it'll be all over on the GB isles. There's nowhere to hide. The radioactive dust that settles will span a massive area. You can't drink the water or eat anything off the ground. The topsoil will be ruined for centuries.
