True. But this has bee happening during the same timescale as Russia annexing Chrimea.
Russia sure is guilty of much here but we as in the west are guilty of a whole more. Easier to turn a blind eye though just makes a mockery of what is happening with Ukraine.

The problem is people only know what's being shown on the TV from this past week. The don't understand the history of Ukraine over the last 15 years. Not saying Russia are in the right, but people need to understand how this mess all started.....and what a mess!

Based on the quality of tanks and equipment being used in Ukraine, I'm still wondering how many of those supposed 6000 nukes are operational.
I mean, we've been hearing for years about how the Russian tanks would make mincemeat of the Abrams, or how the latest Russian fighter jets can evade F35s, F22s, and Typhoons. All of that seems to have been garbage.

Approx only 1500 deployed (still more than enough). There is a suggestion though, given the crazy amount of money it needs to finance a nuclear program, that Russia might not have as many as 1500 operational nukes, which if you think that the U.S has spent over $5 trillion just maintaining their nuclear warheads since the 1940's, then you'd have to ask yourself if this is all Putin propaganda? To keep the version of reality though, I'll believe that they have at least 1500 operational nukes.

should have fast tracked all from the start and wouldnt have this mess including Ukraine forget the annexed part.
Sweden and Finland don't actually want to join NATO (possibly might have changed in the past week no official announcements yet though), so I think they'd be a bit surprised to find out they were being joined up on a fast track anyway...

Sweden would need quite an about-turn in policy and military spending too.

Finland has been a bit on the fence about joining or not, but have always said it might be an option, suspect they might well come down on the NATO side of the fence after this (unless Putin is deposed and a peaceful and open Russian government takes his place I suppose).

So this no to fighter jets - are they definately not getting them or is it these jets can't transfer from Poland to Ukraine by air because if they engage then thats NATO v Russia? Just because a Ukrainian is flying it?

Not sure about Sweden but Finland for the first time do want to join going by a public opinion poll this week.

I don't know if you can say that,

If Putin succeeds and manages to get the whole of Ukraine and they fold after utter carnage, what next? who's next?

I'm just wondering if you'll still feel that way when the dust settles, and it's the most bloody awful mess.

Yes, why wouldn't I ? I am lucky enough to have a had a chicken Kiev in Kiev and I feel sorry for the people about to be brought back into Soviet expansion and probably Moldova after it. But It won't last it may take another 50/60 years or so but Russian style oppression won't last and the west has a massive bargaining chip when Putin goes and he will go.

And? They still import a shed load, so this rhetoric of not needing to intervein because of oil is rubbish, they could have gone to war and got it for "free".

Isn’t it obvious the US only cares about its own interests and has done for well, since ever

you know “America first” etc

If you think the US would defend or fight a country out of the goodness of its own heart then your a bit nieve
