What difference would an open border make then? Absolutely nothing. Anyone who has
1) escaped a war zone
2) made it across europe
3) made it across the channel

Has more right to be here than most of the ***** that claim birth right

No because birth right is how it works. Secondly the immediate need of a refugee is safe haven which is what is being offered by most of the countries closest. Thirdly, it is better for them to be in countries closest to Ukraine because we don't know how long this is going to be for and it maybe possible for them to return and help rebuild their society.

Do you miss a point for a living? Or are you just so bad at it that they let you do it for free?

You've been on ignore for a while. I clicked on your comment in the hope that you'd have something useful to say, but as usual these days you don't. You're lost in the mirage of your flailing academic background. I've tried to help you in the past but you've ignored me.

My only recommendation to you is that you get out of this place and stop talking to people here but I fear it's a symptom of an issue you're personally experiencing. I wish you the best.

Retired soldier Shane Matthews has answered the call to arms from Ukraine’s embattled president Volodymyr Zelensky, who issued an urgent plea for foreigner fighters over the weekend.

The 34-year-old, who completed multiple tours of Afghanistan and Iraq, will be flying out to Poland on Monday before crossing the border and meeting a Ukrainian Colonel, who has agreed to ‘arm him’ and 21 others.

From here the experienced sniper, who served with the 2nd Battalion Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment – Portsmouth’s local infantry unit, aims to travel to Ukraine’s under-siege capital of Ukraine.

‘As far as I’m concerned, if you can fight it's your duty to fight. You’re looking at modern day Hitler steam-rolling across Ukraine.’

<< Terrible memory, you will need to quote the correct post so i know what we are talking about :p

I can't find the post because the thread moves so fast. It was regarding the EU granting Ukraine candidate status. I just wondered how or whether it differed from full member status.

The refugee situation may become untenable in the neighbouring countries - we must be ready to take these people in.

Even if by some miracle Ukraine survives - we will still many thousands needing displaced.

If we took 100k refugees we wouldn't even notice. We are British = we are nimbys

We probably will over the coming months, we have had millions of eastern Europeans move here over the last few years. It takes time, those most in need we be dealt with first. Just calm yourself.

Childish berk, I have stated we are letting refugees in, it just needs to be on our terms. Maybe we are a bit wiser in years than you, your comments come across as someone with very little life exprience.

you do come across as someone that’s rather peeved.

Just found out that a friend of mine is stuck in Kyiv. She's with her mother in an air raid shelter, waiting for a humanitarian corridor to open so that she can escape. Hopefully she can get back to the UK.

Well done that man, hopefully others will follow suit.

In France, In Germany, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Belguim, Sweden, Finland etc, etc. Just stop and think, we are helping those that need it.

The TV news was pointing out that we still used Russian oil and gas hence pay for Putin’s War.

there will be a natural point that the consumption rate needs reducing/substituting.

Is there more to this? I thought the whole point of booting Russia from the swift system was so they couldn't sell their oil and gas. Unless someone's turned up on the border and paying for it in US dollars.

What an utterly shameless lie. There are no US weapons on Russia's borders.

I'm not sure I'd trust a news source titled Al mayadeen english.

Jimmy Dore? Seriously?

Part of Putin’s efforts is to displace the population, once the remaining defenders are killed he then has a “clear” country that has been sterilised of all opposition. Perfect for the Putin Puritans to take up residency.
