For him to be punished for war crimes would mean he'd have to be overthrown from Presidency in Russia. The only way that will happen is if there's a coup.

Realistically Putin will never be tried for war crimes. If there ever was a coup in Russia, he'd more than likely be executed by his own people.

Guess he's stuck never leaving Russia then. Despite the fact foreign heads of state, members of government have various immunities, I hope they'd make an exception for his case if he stepped out of the country.

Remove all the Russian players and it might get rid of all the hackers
It's quite surreal, at least one of the tablet games I play (Rival Kingdoms) has a large number of Russian players and teams yet no attempt has been made (that I can see) to block access. Just went up against one of them in the daily team tournament.
Mentioned previously, Snowrunner is I believe coded in Russia but is still on sale on Steam.
However it looks like SCS software have pulled their planned "Heart Of Russia" DLC expansion for Euro Truck Sim 2.
I'm guessing the Trans Siberian Express train game that has been pre-announced on Steam for ages will never now happen.

Back to the grim reality, the optimism I felt for Ukraine when this first started and their spirited defence is starting to fade. Russia now seem to be digging in and sadly it will only be a matter of time. It must be so frustrating for the people to see that stalled convoy, knowing that a couple of stealth bombers would flatten it in short order.

There was never much cause for optimism unfortunately. I think the best Ukraine can hope for is a negotiated settlement where they keep some of their country, and Russia gets some...

To lighten the mood, my wife’s brother and his wife stayed with us Tuesday night and this morning we were all discussing the Ukraine situation.
My wife said, “If Putin goes nuclear then it’s goodbye world.”
Her brother, who if he lived in a village would qualify to be their resident idiot, came out with a doozy, “Won’t bother us, we’re going to Tenerife on Friday, we’ll be okay.”
As I closed my eyes and slowly shook my head from side to side, his wife jumped to his defence, “What’s the matter Jean, he’s not wrong, Tenerife is miles from Ukraine!”

To be fair, tenerife is pretty unlikely to be a nuclear target...

Saw a post the other day about false stories being put out including one of a little shouting at Russian soldier. Except it was pointed out that it didn’t look like Ukraine in February as it was a clear blue sky. Turns out it wasn’t.

This could provoke interesting response from Russia

Georgia to apply to join EU immediately - ruling party

Georgia - a former Soviet state on the eastern shore of the Black Sea - will "immediately" apply for EU membership, its ruling party Georgian Dream says.

It comes a day after the European Parliament backed Ukraine's bid to apply for EU membership.

Georgian Dream's Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze told reporters he was calling on the EU "to review our application in an urgent manner and to make the decision to grant Georgia the status of an EU membership candidate".

Georgia has seen big demonstrations against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Russia has controlled two Georgian regions - South Ossetia and Abkhazia - since 2008, when Russian forces ousted Georgian troops from them.

It followed a Georgian attempt to recapture South Ossetia, which had fought a separatist war against Georgia in the 1990s.

You could buy the following at B&Q which would help:

* Wood to board up windows
* White paint to help reflect the flash
* Wood to strengthen your shelter under the stairs (usually the safest part of a house)
* Bucket and sand to put out fires
* Bucket to hold water for drinking
* Shovels and crowbar to help extract yourself from a house that has collapsed around you
etc

I doubt any of that would help really. During World War 2 civilians in areas at risk of air raids and without sufficient public shelter capacity were told to build Anderson shelters. Those gave good protection against the blast from high explosive bombs but obviously not from a direct/near hit. Sheltering under your stairs might allow you to survive the initial blast (assuming your house doesn't collapse on you and kill you) but it's never going to be as good as sheltering in an Anderson shelter. However, the big difference with nuclear weapons is the radioactive fallout, which will cause radiation sickness that will kill you in a few days.

You would need a sealed underground shelter with HEPA air filtration to stop you from inhaling fallout after the blast. To do that you would need an air pump system, which would mean running an electric motor or internal combustion engine for 2-4 weeks while you're underground. That fact alone would preclude most civilians from building an effective shelter to survive a strategic nuclear weapons exchange. Obviously, you'd also need food, water etc to survive that long without leaving the shelter. Not many people have the resources to sort all that out.

Even if you did have the capability to do all that, what kind of a country would you be emerging into after leaving your shelter? There are so many strategically important targets in the UK and it's such a small country that the land would be severely contaminated with fallout after a nuclear war. The survivors would probably have a maximum life expectancy of 5 years due to the massive dose of radiation they would receive when outside their shelters.
