Horizon: Forbidden West

I've done one strike game is there a second I can do easily as I'm not really interested in it?

What I did here is find a strike carver (or whatever they're called) on the western part of the map so you can buy some blue/purple pieces. Then go back to play in Chainscrape and Barren Light as they're two beginner players. You may not even need upgraded pieces to do it but I thought I would give myself the best chance.

I'll give that ago.

I think I'll easy get 60 hours out of this game.

Tbh, despite absolutely loving the first game, I'm having a hard time getting into this.

It's too big...I did pretty much everything in the first game, and it felt do-able...long enough for some decent story beats, but not so long it becomes a slog.

Maybe I just have less time than when the original came out! I have a free evening tonight though and I'm reluctant to fire it up because I am stuck at boss fight, first one in the west, there's a ravager you need to kill first which is easy enough, then a human boss with a laser gun thing that shoots through cover and pretty much one-shots you.

Hmm... I don't recall that? Where was the Ravager...

Killed me a few times that one, managed to run / roll out the way in the end enough to kill him.

Is it possible to get the Platinum after completing the main story. You can't miss anything?

I got Platinum earlier. There is one trophy you can miss linked to the story missions.

Scanning all machines. Make sure you scan all machines in the final mission, esp at the end...

Tip. Go straight for the human and kill him with blast sling rounds (they knock him down so he can’t shoot). Pick up his cannon and kill the ravager with it. I was getting annihilated trying to kill ravager first. I switched my tactic and fight was over in 30 seconds. Worth a try if you are struggling.

Finished this last night. I really don't think it's as good as the first game. It just didn't "wow" me as much as the first game did. Also, surprisingly little of the game is actually in the Forbidden West  The trailers they showed were very misleading.

That's one thing I was wondering about - all that sequence with Aloy rescuing Erend in San Francisco and fighting the Tremortusk - that they showed during game reveals didn't appear to exist in the actual game.

Wonder what the sales figures are. I'm not sure it's done that brilliantly for a first party title. Highly expecting it to be on PC before the end of the year, with some DLC.

If you go down there, the paths are still there, even all the trees are lying knocked down where it blasted through them..
There is a comparison video on youtube that shows it all.
Obviously the trailer was a bit over jealouz :)

Have finally upgraded all pouches and have the legendary bow and armour from the rebel camps and salvage contracts. Level 40 now, so time to unlock the arena - I just want the bow and armour from there and then I’ll crack on with the story :p

Perhaps upcoming DLC will be focused more on the actual forbidden west!?

I have personally put this down for the time being because I am caught up with Elden Ring which is holding my attention a bit more than this.

I was starting to feel Horizon II wasn’t really doing anything new. Same sort of game mechanics as the original with a few thing bolted on to enhance the platforming elements. Indeed the changing around of the weapons compared to the original kind of feels like a last minute attempt to make it seem different.

But then I could level similar observations at Elden Ring, but at least that is doing something completely new for a From game with it being open world and having platforming / jumping elements.

This really is a game you have to dedicate yourself. As you cannot just casually jump in and out without the story breaking from memory. Look how long it takes to get to level 50 and all the farming stuff you've to do to upgrade.

I've also taken a break from it. As it feels more a chore right now. I had stopped at the start of the GAIA quest with 3 tracking parts which was about a week ago.
Incredible graphics though. Already stored lots of photos.

Lv32, still using green bows :p Guess its time to move away from Las Vegas and venture further west!
